Wanetta Gibson Courageously Comes Forward; Admits Her Rape Accusation Was False (Not)

UPDATE:

The Long Beach Unified School District sued Ms. Gibson in an effort to recover legal fees and the settlement paid to her – or at least a judgement against her for that amount.

They won. $1 million in punitive damages, a return of the $1.5M, and legal fees, for a total of $2.6 million.

Ms. Gibson did not attend the trial or present a defense.

Meanwhile, Brian Banks looks like he’ll have a spot on the Falcon’s roster, and given their lack of depth, it’s not out of the realm of the possible that he could be a starter.

Other update: the state chose not to charge Gibson with perjury, most likely because she was a minor when she testified against Banks.

There’s no way she can pay that back. They should lock her up for 5 years and then call it even.

I agree. Or do both!

I had the same reaction. That’s a very misleading way to comment on something.

AS a Falcons fan, I was pretty happy to see we drafted him. Hoping he does well this summer.

What was the point of this? Isn’t she pretty much judgement proof? ISTM that the school district spent more money on a case that has a very low potential of a positive ROI.

So this zombie thread walks among the living because a) a crucial milestone in justice and law has been reached, or b) Bricker was right about something.

Any reason it can’t be both?

Enjoy,
Steven

Threads have been raised from the dead for far less.

On a more topical note, she should get locked up for a long time. She can’t pay the $ back, I hope they garnish her wages for the rest of her life. She tried to ruin his life, now she needs to pay the price.

People (and organizations) are occasionally telling the truth when they say “it’s the principle of the thing.”

One of the many rules of life is that when someone says “It’s not about the money”, then it’s about the money.

You’re just jealous, cos you’ve never once been right about anything.

Oooh, snap!

Thirded. Neither can make up for what she’s done, but I am glad some kind of justice is happening, at least.

Or maybe it was, you know, giving an update on a topic considered worthy enough to discuss last year.

I guess. People have different ideas about what’s important. Knock yourselves out.

It seems important to me, because if we make examples like this public, maybe women will think twice about trying to get away with shit like this, and the system can focus on prosecuting actual rape cases instead of made up ones.

Maybe.

To be fair, there was one time in 2004 that elucidator was right about something, or at least not completely wrong.

Hmmm, what’s more important? Update on story where man does well despite being wrongfully accused and lying bitch gets comeuppance or…anonymous snark against a person I do not know and never met.
