I also wonder how things are going, but fear that the news may be bad, and that is why jay-c hasn’t posted.
heh… we had a cat like that once that we rescued from some cruel asshole who put a litter of newborn kittens in a burlap sack and left them on a local bike trail to die in the 100 degree summer.
We found homes for all the cats except one… we just called it “Cat”. We ended up keeping it, despite trying hard not to get attached to it. Cat, while being a stupid name, stuck. Kittens have a way of being so cute you have to keep them!
I’m really getting concerned. We haven’t seen new pics for weeks!
Update, even if it’s bad, please??
Kitty refused to answer to Lola. She’s been renamed Gracie, and seems happy to answer to that. Here she is, with my dog. My big tough hunting dog (he’s got his own thread somewhere) has turned into a big baby when Gracie is around. She bites him, crawls on him, and generally bosses him around.
Gracie’s had her share of health problems related to digestion, and she nearly died a few weeks ago due to some sort of rupture. $500 and lots of TLC later, she’s back on the road to health.
The news on the brothers is not so good, unfortunately. They were involved in a skirmish at the soup kitchen (nobody seems to know who was at fault), and were arrested and taken into custody. They’re somewhere in the system, and that’s all I can find out right now. When I heard, I went to their home and took their dogs. Mama and baby were spayed, and they went to live with a former coworker of mine. They’re doing well.
I’ll post more updates and pictures as I have them. Thank you everyone for all of your concern!
Beautiful animals, both of them!
I hope this will turn out to be something good for the brothers; apparently it* is * a good thing for the dogs. Thanks for sharing, jay-c.
Squee! She is still uttterly adorable. Though you’ve had a close call, I’m glad she’s getting better and hopes she continues to be well. She is so damn cute, too.
Also glad the dogs are saved – hopefully the system will be kind to the Brothers.
AAAAAWWW!!!
I’m so sorry to hear about the brothers. Perhaps, if theyr’e in the system, they’ll be looked at, and get the help that they need.
I managed to remain calm troughout the entire story, but these last two sentences really touched me somehow…
Oh man, what a great picture. We have a chocolate lab (about 9 months old) and both of my cats love her. What is it with cats and labs?
I’m dying from the cuteness.
thank you for the update.
i hope gracie continues to improve. i’m sure you and big furry brother are watching her with eagle eyes!
i hope the brothers are able to get some help. good work on getting the dogs and finding them a new home.
You did a great thing with the kittens, dogs and the brothers. The kitty is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. This thread is the greatest story ever told, still unfolding.
I have seven rescued kitties living with me and my wife, and the only reason that there are only seven is that my wife continues to tell me not to bring home any more. Of course, she found the last three.
Sorry for the bump, but bodypoet’s thread reminded me of this and I was wondering if there was an update?
Am I the only one who can’t see the latest photo(s)? I get the Page-cannot-be-found message. Has it been taken away? I realize I’m a bit late to the thread, but what a great story!
No; I can’t get to any of the pictures either.
I was hoping someone would post something like “well, they’re not at that spot anymore, they’re here” and redirect to another site.
Ah, well, maybe we’ll get an answer later.
So, how’s Gracie doing?
Well, they’re not at that spot anymore, they’re here. Well, actually, they aren’t anywhere right now, I took them down… I will put them back up again, and post when it’s done. Didn’t realize there was still an interest.
Gracie is doing very well, thanks for asking. Growing quite fast, and very active. The one problem, however, is that she isn’t afraid of water like most cats. I get in the shower and turn around, and there stands Gracie, enjoying the spray. That would be bad enough, but my dog does it too, and he’s 60 pounds! Between the two of them, they’re crowding me out of my own shower. They’ve both been banished from the bathroom during shower time now - it’s too much work to towel off myself, a cat, and a dog every morning.
Thanks for the update and yes we still want to know!
This made me laugh however, because I have a 75 pound Golden Retriever and a 5 pound cat (we have 4 cats, but only one of them likes the dog) that are best buddies and I have seen the both of them get wet. Yes, it is a pain to dry both off including yourself without needing yet another shower!
I held two 7-day-old kittens today, and so I had a fresh picture in my mind of what week-old kittens look like when I read this thread. I nearly cried.
I also nearly cried when I realized none of the picture links are working for me. Goshdarnit, **I **want to see the cute kitty, too!
Aye. Tiny helpless critters they are. So cute, so very precious. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to hurt one much less see it suffer.
Our cats are: 7 years old, 5 years old, 7 months, and 3 months. The 3 month old is so tiny compared to the other cats, I feel a little more protective over her than the others when they get into a tiff.
