Wanna see some bad science?

This is perhaps the very finest example I’ve ever seen.

Centre for Implosion Research

Check out the quality of their ‘Independent Scientific Research

Sheesh

Clearly this work is based on the well-known scientific principle that “there’s one born every minute”.

Sheesh indeed. Their brochure is particularly amusing, especially the part where they suggest you energize the water in your radiators by lying their device down with the tip pointing at the pipe.

To start with, I stupidly expected their ‘independent research’ to have been ‘impartial’, but sadly, no.

Vainly searching for some reputable research in their list, I skipped over the articles:
by Roger Coghill of Coghill Research Laboratories (one-man operation)
Kirlian Diagnostics at Biofield Labratory (unbiased? hmmmm…)

so that leaves only the article by Dr. Cyril W. Smith, Salford University (sounds promising); I find that he ‘retired from Salford University in 1989 where I was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering’ (OK so far)

then he says ‘Since then, I have developed radiaesthetic techniques specifically to investigate ‘subtle’ electromagnetic fields and radiations. A hand-held pendulum was used for the following tests to detect resonances excited by oscillations…’ (oh dear)

and ‘…those acupuncture points having frequencies at or near to the resonances…The Chakras have their own endogenous frequencies and can be stimulated by nearby frequencies present in the environment…’ <click>

For you audiophiles, you might want to have a look at these babies: http://www.bybeetech.com

Sadly, these devices are but one example is a huge field of complete garbage that audiophiles spend every nickel they have on. How about an $895 power cord? One that will ‘clean and filter’ your AC power going to your amp? Or a clock to put on top of your CD player to ‘align the bits’?

wow, superconducting quantum rare-earth thingies, I’m sold.

Let’s throw this thread open, please post links to the worst BadScience pages you know (yes, including creationism et al if you like)

Well, this is not really science, but it is bad and it sounds scientific.

Man, first they tell me to drink my urine, and then they try to convince me with biblical verses?!

You mean to tell me you don’t trust people who make devices with names like “Vortex Energiser” and “Personal Harmoniser?”

There. “Nut.” They said it.

In a word…

No.

Strange, I didn’t see a tin foil hat in their product list.

Was I the only one who was disturbed by the background that they chose for that page? Ewwwwww.

After I finished clearing up the vomit, I noticed this little gem:

Gaaaaahhh! YES, the kidneys DO ‘filter’ the blood; but the impure stuff they filter out is called, you guessed it, urine.

and this made me chuckle:

So what food does best accompany a nice glass of warm urine? fish or fowl? certainly not red meat with such a lively white.

hahaha, and:

Yes, that would make me think “why the bloody hell am I doing this?”

My own theory, for whatever it’s worth, is that the Garden of Eden is the human body, and that the two trees, (in the “most middle”) are the spine (which is the tree of knowledge of good and evil), and the penis (the tree of life). Male gender used, since man and woman were originally created as one. Also note that “s-p-i-n-e” and “p-e-n-i-s” are made up of the same letters, and their fruits (sperm and brain cells), are very similar, chemically and morphologically. For many years I thought that eating from the tree of life, meant reabsorbing your own seed, but then I heard a voice in my head suggest that urine, too, is also fruit from the tree of life.

Well this makes it all crystal clear! D-O-G and G-O-D are made up of the same…[sub]O never mind.[/sub]

What this says about oral sex, I don’t know.

Gah. I meant to say the above quote was taken from the Urine is really tasty and Good For You Too page.

But I had to add one of my favorites. It is a wonderfully weird mixture of bad science and conspiracy theory.

Look! Up in the sky! **DUCK

hahahaaaa!

Look at this image (from the page that Biggirl posted the link to):
col2.jpg - it’s supposed to show where the ‘chemtrail’ was interrupted for a second, but you can clearly see that it’s been photoshopped (the rectangle of sky they’ve put over the top doesn’t match)
