Want to buy some moon food?

I’m an Apollo program fan, and have bought a couple of modest pieces of memorabilia. But this is really out there:

Apollo 17 food for sale

Among several items that were flown to the lunar surface is this package of beef sandwiches, which can be yours for $3500. There is also pot roast and peach ambrosia.

What really makes me laugh is on the bottom of the page it says, “Satisfaction guaranteed, or your money back.”

I’m sorely tempted to buy it and then call back to say, “It tasted terrible - refund please!”

No, thanks. I just ate.

Wonder if it was inspected by the FDA.

We actually cracked open and ate a can of Skylab “bread” a few years ago.

Yes, you read that right. A can of bread.

It was as nice as it sounds.

What? No MoonPie?

They must have known we weren’t going back to the moon even at the time of Apollo 17 or else they would have left that stuff in a box of goodies there for the next people.

You should have fed your head with this canned bread instead, Fred. I mean, jjimm. It’s weirdly good. The proper way to serve it is to slice it, put some butter on, and heat it up in the oven. I don’t generally recommend bread in the microwave, but you might be able to do it with this stuff without it drying too badly.
