Hearts of Iron, for those of you who don’t know, is a WWII strategy game, produced by Paradox Entertainment, a Swedish game company. Anyway, at the beginning of June, the Chinese Ministry of Culture banned the sale, use, or possession of the game. The game’s main offense seems to be that it portrays Tibet as independent, Manchuria as a Japanese puppet state, and Taiwan as part of Japan.
While all those things are true, apparently saying them “distort[s] history and damag[es] China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” Not really much to say about this, just wanted to share. Here’s the China Daily article.
