Wanted: Boat names

Aqueous Cash Pit

Helen Back

Apple of Paris

Three Notch Islander

St Marys Islander

Strait Dope

I always liked Plan B, but I have seen it used before in case that matters.

That is a main criterion for us. We also want to make sure we don’t use a name that could induce panic. That’s why we never used *Paradigm Lost * - we figured a broken radio message where the word “lost” was one of the few clear ones might not be a good thing. Which is why, when we counted that this will be our 5th sloop, we decided against using French or Spanish numbers: Cinq (sank) or Cinco (sink-o)

Yesterday, FCD was looking at an astronomy site and came across a couple of star names that came from Greek mythology and had a water connection. Wish I could remember what they were, but they’re the leading contenders.

Although I still like *Silver Girl * a lot.

Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!

Amusitude

Paint the whole thing hot pink, and name it Floyd

Sarsaparilla
I, Debtor (opposite of I, Lender)
Sloopy Seconds
Duke of Bilgewater
(from Huckleberry Finn)

…or Somebody Else’s Problem.

Use it with my blessings. The chance of me actually getting a boat is virtually nil.

I’ve always liked “My Wife thinks I’m at Work”.

Ocean Gypsy.
Wind Lass.
I don’t recommend the name Damfino for obvious reasons.
Whatever you name it, get a large plaque for it and post it prominantly:

“My other boat is curently leased to Carnival Cruise Lines”

You know a virgin?!

Probably an ugly 3rd grader who can run faster than her brothers…

I’ve always been partial to what they named the boat in One Crazy Summer.

Which was, of course, The Boat.

NEIN!

Name it Das Boot!

In case it, you know, sinks.

I love Das Bootie and Unsinkable II.

Hang On Sloopy,
Rudder Nonsense
or
Tip Tape (spoken with a lisp).

Nosmo King

Raging Queen
(from an old SNL skit about gay pirates - well before Cap’n Jack Sparrow came along!)

Filthy Whore
(from the funny/awful Chris Elliott movie, “Cabin Boy”)

Bonhomme Richard
Essex
Saratoga
Lexington
Kearsarge

(for a bit of American naval history)

I thought about that, but then I thought, “Everybody’s gonna think of that.”

Mmm-hmmm…and where are you gonna get virgin these days, huh?
