So you are a large country, spending X billions of dollars every year on your defense budget. This is because you can deter other governments from manipulating your agenda if you are more tangibly powerful.
But does there come a point when the money you are pumping into your “defense” budget yields diminishing returns in terms of new power aquired while you keep your military at home for defense? And when this point is reached, does the military have to be deployed in order to acheive fresh gains?
I would not think that the bombs dropped would have to be of lesser monetary value than the targets destroyed, but might the long term economic gains make up this shortfall?Eg. commisioning your own companies to exclusively rebuild the battered nation? Or maybe political considerations would overshadow economic ones.
At any rate can it be doubted that war always arises on account of economic forces?
