War Czar? What The Hell Is That?

Now we just need an Executive Branch Czar and we’re good.

As Gentle Robot said in post #3, another name for “war tzar” if “fall guy.” A three-star fills that bill nicely.

I’m surprised that this has not received more review on the DOPE. So, I am going to give it a bump.

And I like to see more or your opinions.

It seems that many of us are just throwing up our hands.

I agree for the most part that a special military person to advise the POTUS might not be a bad idea.

I disagree that the POTUS should need that. Someone beyond the Joint Chief of Staff? the National Security Advisor? Secretary of Defense…. And on, and on….

A Three Star General (not that that position should be discounted)? It seems that he was appointed because nobody else would take the job? Was he appointed, or ordered?

I am not a typical ‘Bush Basher’ And hope beyond hope that he is trying to understand what is going on by bringing in a 3 Star General to consult with.

Though I think that POTUS might be better talking to Corporals and Sergeants. And that was not a shot at the lower ranks, or Bush. That’s just where the information to fix this may be.

Shit. Every day I become more of a pessimist.

Bush doesn’t listen to anybody. He looks through the military men until he finds someone who agrees with him. That belies the entire concept.

Information on the position is still pretty sketchy, and the czar in waiting will soon be up for senate confirmation. What with the majority of the majority party voting for Feingold’s Iraq plan today, I expect the Lute hearings will be thorough, revealing, and contentious. We’ll probably all learn more than we ever want to know about the proposed powers of a czar.
