War of the Roses anyone?

I want to get into some medieval multi-player battles!

War of the Roses came out today, and I believe another such game is coming out pretty soon called Chivalry.

I’ve played some of the War of the Roses Beta, unfortunately I was having some issues with the graphics so I didn’t play long. Hopefully the Release straightened that out. Has anyone played it yet? IS there any interest?
War of The Roses and Chivalry, BTW are both multi-player games where you perform great deeds of arms against the pernicious foe with sword, mace, spear, and bow. It’s a medieval battle royale in the style of Mount and Blade - only with better graphics. The main difference between the two lies probably in the mechanics of the game and the character development system.

Is War of the Roses by the Mount & Blade people? I’m not big on multiplayer, but I could go for another M&B(-like) game.

Not quite. War of the Roses looks like a Paradox Interactive in-house project, while Mount & Blade is developed by Taleworlds but published by Paradox. It’s definitely the same flavor, though. For me the turn-off is that it’s multiplayer only.

I’m not sure why I thought War of the Roses was by Taleworlds. If the game is only multiplayer, I think I’ll pass. Chivalry looks like it might be worth picking up if it has a single-player mode.

Incidentally, Talewords is working on Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. Hopefully it will take the franchise back to Calradia (or a similar setting), and have a robust single-player experience.

I completely agree, I just hope it’s not good enough that I spend another 500+ hours on it.

That said, I’d like to try War of the Roses, especially if the single-player campaign that got cut during production shows up at some point.

I got into the Beta for War of the Roses, but never got it to run. I think my computer is too slow.

You’re not feeding the hamsters enough sugar.

I played the beta. It was kind of disappointing. I liked the customization functionality, but the combat was pretty clunky overall.

If they put out a demo to showcase the finished engine, I’ll give it a shot but I won’t otherwise be buying it.

Don’t know why either, but I thought the exact same thing upon hearing about the game and looking a little into it.
And yeah, multiplayer only, Battlefield-esque experience ? Count me out. The graphic engine looks shiny nice though, do wake me if someone makes a mod to implement it in *Warband *or something
