Well, I’d actually like to get into the games creation biz, but it’s not easy to break into, and I don’t think this game is considered big enough to merit a full-price licensed product.
Nah, there’re a lot of single-player people today, but multiplayer is easy to cover in magazines. Personally, I think it’s much overrated. I have found very few multiplayer games which can hold my attention very long.
True, my tongue was firmly in cheek. But I too would love to do some game designing on the side. Ah welllllll.
Agreed, most of the time I’m really disapointed. Don’t even get me started on that piece o’ crap Matrix Online game which charged $180.00 a year with mediocre graphics to boot!
Warhammer 40k was the bad choice I made when I decided to go to a gaming store instead of picking up a cocaine addiction. ;> I have three armies I can field, my smallest tops out at 2000 points (Imperial Guard, Valhallan Ice Warriors). My largest army is my Tau Expeditionary Force, 5000 points. Space Wolves round out my collection at about 3500 points. I guess I could field a very small Kroot army if I wanted as well… I just lump them in with the Tau. I have managed to stop buying things for the past couple of years… I kind of overdosed doing the Tau… had to stop myself before i got into Battlefleet Gothic. sigh
BFG does look really neat… but if I was going to choose a second ‘division’ of GWI minis I’d probably choose Epic… none too cheap neither. Still, I used to play Magic the Gathering in high school. I couldn’t imagine it’d get any worse than that!
As an update to this thread (I missed it the first time…LOVED the game), supposedly Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Winter Assault shipped yesterday (it was supposed to ship on the 19th according to Gamespy). If you want to read the preview its here. I’m intending to try and nip into the local software store after work today to see if I can snag a copy. Anyone have one yet? If so…thoughts?
My mate has it, but he got the main game and the expansion pack together so we can’t really say what differences there are! Read a review of WInter Assault and it said the Imperial Guard were completely different to the other races and suited turtlers (those of us who sit back and defend while we build up a big army).
The cheapest place in the UK to get both the main game and expansion is play.com, they sell both for £25. Many high street shops sell the seperate bits for £20 each.
