Warm, sunny winters in CONUS

I want to take a winter vacation someplace sunny and warm. Besides south Florida (which I’ve been to a lot), where else in the continental US is the weather over 70 (and mostly sunny) during the day in Jan-Feb?

Phoenix.

Not San Francisco. Not reliably, anyway.

Palm Springs?

Well the average high temps in south Texas are above 70 in Jan and Feb, but it gets cooler in the mornings and evenings. There’ll be a cold snap from time to time too. Can’t imagine anyone voluntarily vacationing in Brownsville, TX. South Padre is nice but I imagine it’s dead in the winter months.

This is the first time I’ve seen the word “CONUS” in something other than a Department of Defense briefing. Is the term catching on?

And possibly other southern AZ destinations (like Tucson?). We were in Phoenix at Christmastime a few years back and it was indeed 70s or so during the days. I don’t recall what it was like at night. We then travelled up to the Grand Canyon and the weather was in the 60s one day and 30s the next. Quite a difference!! (farther north, and higher elevation).

Our 80+ year old neighbor winters there. Says it’s a happening place, with all the other snowbirds down there.

I went to Las Vegas in January a few years ago and the daytime weather was mild. The highs might not have quite been 70, but I was comfortable without a jacket. Nights were cold, though. I enjoyed the lack of crowds. Because it is the low season, some shows are dark, so if you were going to see any specific one, be sure and check ahead of time.
