Warner Archive Collection experiences?

Anyone here ever order DVDs from the Warner Archive Collection? Like, dislike, or any experiences to share? Is it similar in quality to Amazon.com’s made-to-order DVD program?

For those who haven’t run across it before, it’s a service that makes made-to-order DVD-Rs of Time/Warner-owned films/TV-movies (typically those that already have masters made for broadcast on Turner Classic Movies) that are deemed to not have a large enough commercial demand to warrant a normal DVD release; lots of early stuff, especially lesser-known movies with big stars. I wandered over to pick up a DVD-R of the Peanuts Motion Comics from a link on a Peanuts DVD page, discovered they had a release of The Fox (a movie I’d been waiting for, first on laserdisc then on DVD, for nearly 20 years), and ended up browsing and being interested in a few dozen more. I purchased the Peanuts DVD, The Fox, Urgh! A Music War, and a set of Dogville shorts from 1930/1931. While I wait for my order, I’m wondering what I should expect, and wondering if there are any gems anyone would recommend, or bombs I should avoid in the future.

As an aside, I recall seeing Urgh! a number of times in this forum over the years, often in the context of “I wish they’d release this on home video,” so I suppose this serves as a notice to those folks that it’s available…

Bah, could a roving mod add an appropriate space to the subject title?

Happy to do so. Keep in mind that you can now report your own posts (click the triangle with the exclamation point), which will generally get you a faster response – mods don’t necessarily read all posts in their forums. (A passerby reported this one for you.)

Cool, good to know in the future. I think that was the first time I ever wanted my own post modified from above, so I’m not too hip.
