Was a Priest scared to death by troops during drug raid?

I recall someone telling me a long, looooong time ago about a story they heard. The story went something like this: there was a priest in South America, I think Colombia, who was involved with the cocaine trade. This priest was apprehended by troops in his church, at which point he had a heart attack and died because he had been scared to death by the commotion they created bursting in. As my friend put it, “they barged in with M-16s and gas masks and the guy just had a heart attack.”

Is this real-life case of someone being literally startled to death true or a figment of someone’s imagination (or a Tom Clancy novel or something?)

No need to go to South America. Try Boston – police went to the wrong apartment, resulting in “a botched 1994 drug raid, which caused a heart attack that killed the Reverend Accelyne Williams, a 75-year-old African-American man.” From the Boston Phoenix, in a recent article about police problems in Boston. Of course, one difference from your story is that Rev. Williams had no involvement with drugs.
