Was Dec 31 2004... New Years Eve 2004 or 2005 ?

Oh dear. An adult throwing a tanty is always unattractive.

Regardless of what’s Right, it makes sense to call it “2005” because we’ve all been writing “2004” on journal entries, homeworks, checks, etc. for a really long time. The whole point of New Years is to go “Wow! 2005 is coming!” Notice how the number “2004” now has a kind of old, dusty, grayed-out feel to it, and “2005” has a fresh, bright, future-y feel? So, you don’t have to call it 2005, but I think you should.

Blah blah blah blah blah. YEESH. How about I meet you halfway? We’ll include the preposition “of” in conjuction with the New Year’s Eve date on New Year’s Eve…

**New Year’s Eve of 2005. **

Ta da. I still think it’s wonky, redundant, unnecessary and flies against convention but at least it’ll be grammatically correct and allow you to keep your myoptic vision intact.
