I was always wodnering hwo they managed to get the actors to appear in it. I know some of them probably just needed money (most people do) but this was a potential career-killer.
You have to admit, the airline safety film was an absolute hoot though!
An anecdote to make the movie even worse:
A friend of mine and I saw it opening night. We drove home bewildered. One scene, Connor and this woman don’t know each other, the next, they’re driving around together talking. WTF?
It turns out that the print of the movie we saw actually was -missing- the scene where Connor and the disposable romantic interrest meet, making the movie even less comprehensible!
The actors probably signed contracts before it all went to hell and had massive rewrites. Then they were stuck. It’s obvious from watching it that they didn’t want to be in it. I’ve never seen a more lackluster, bored performance.
the…hurting…
How bad was it?
I once read the back of the box at the video store, once, and wish I hadn’t.
There is no Highlander II.
Yes! That is probably the best description of this… thing.
I saw Highlander 2: The Sickening for a $1, and I almost walked out. in hindsight, i wish I would have.
And few weeks after I saw it, a guy I worked with then was reccomending it to everyone at lunch time. I think he was trying to start a fight.
Do you have a cite for that? It makes a horrible kind of sense, but I never heard that before.
There is vague justification for that here.
Other interesting bits of trivia, too.
Michael Ironside, I hope we can all agree, is cool in everything he does.
Imagine the worst, stupidist, most needless, character-betraying retcons to ever appear in a comic series. Spider-Man Clone bad. That was how bad Highlander 2 rewrote the premise of the first movie.
True. And also that is true of every Highlander since the first. Each one has invalidated all the ones before it. Of course, I guess there was no way to have a sequel without doing so, but still…
I’ve seen a lot of movies, and I’ve seen a lot of bad movies. You will find my detailed description of “Highlander II” in several other threads, including the bad movie thread going on right now.
It my honest opinion that Highlander II was, in fact, the worst movie ever made. I really and truly think it was worse than “Battlefield Earth,” which is saying something, because “Battlefield Earth” really was as bad as you’ve heard. I thought “Highlander II” was worse than “Leonard Part Six,” worse than “Star Trek V,” worse than “Bio-Dome,” worse than “From Justin To Kelly,” and worse than “Freddy Got Fingered.” It was worse than “Porky’s II.”
I qualify my statement by saying that I compare “Highlander II” only to professionally made movies, e.g. movies directed, written and starring people with actual Hollywood credits. I am sure you can find many college films that are worse. But for REAL movies, “Highlander II” really is as atrocious as you’ve heard. Worst movie ever.
