Was I normal and mentally health person to shave my body hear?

When I was around at the age of 12, I shaved all my body hair almost every month. I thought, when I did that, they would grow thicker. As far as I observed, I was right to think they would grow thicker. And, I used think, the thicker one’s hair is, the manlier he is!

I now wonder, if there are people on this board, who used to think in the same or similar way, or used to do what I used to do, during their adolescence.

No

Oh :frowning:

Hair does not get thicker after shaving it, but at first it grows in courser, giving the illusion that it’s going to be thicker.

Specifically, the chopped-off end of a shaved hair looks thicker than the tapered tip of an unshaven hair. It’s like an unmowed blade of grass versus a mowed blade; the latter is flat, wider, and rough on the end.

The thing is, at around age 12, everyone’s body hair becomes thicker. It was going to do that anyway, whether you shaved it or not.

And in addition to the blunted hairs looking thicker than tapered ones as mentioned above, there’s also the fact that shaving with a duller blade often causes the hairs to split, which makes it look as if there are more hairs.

Just don’t cut off your dick hoping it will get bigger and manlier.

Yes, it’s normal.

When you start smothering your body in oils daily to keep yourself silky smooth, then it’s become a problem. It’s allowed to have someone else come in and do the body oiling, but if you do it yourself for too long, it becomes deviant.

Boy, that was one day I really regret.

I recall when I was about 12 that I picked up my dad’s shaver and shaved a small patch of my leg hairs (one swipe up the front of my calf). To this day no hair grows there (over 30 years later).

Is there even such thing as a normal and mentally healthy 12 year old human being?

Wow, do I regret not reading the OP and later discovering the question was in reference to a 12 yr old.

And yet, nobody was particularly surprised by your post…

To their credit, they didn’t respond with oil recommendations.

Good point, but I’d say it’s more along the lines that yes, there are normal 12-year old humans. And normal 12-year old humans are… well… not exactly paragons of good decision-making. Hey, I was one once. Wise, well-thought out sensible actions would be the remarkable thing for 12 year olds.

So it’s not a mental abnormality for a particular 12y/o to have sought greater hairiness through preemptive shaving. It’s just one more in the “What The… oh, 12y/o male? That explains it:rolleyes:” series , refreshingly enough one that did not involve permanent grievous injury or a potential FCS intervention.

I can remember being afraid of shaving my legs because I didn’t want thicker hair. Waxing hurt, and then I learned that one plucks or waxes, it stimulates the hair follicles to grow stronger

I think I was about 15 when I had mad Einstein eyebrows for a year.

Sort of, but with a little help – at the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum… it’s breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.
