What’s that? It was not a couple years ago? It was 17 years ago? No, no, that’s ridiculous.
Well, she didn’t. Had she, I would have been enthusiastically cheering her on. Hey, if the government can shoot you to death for “brandishing” a cell phone, you at least should be able to punch out someone who personally assaulted you.
Certainly looks like she was thinking about it in the moment, but it wasn’t all that serious an attempt. But she quickly realized that things were under control before she had to actually start scrapping it out with him.
I really want to describe him the way I really feel, but this is P&E, not the Pit. Suffice it to say that our President, who has done so much to facilitate this division and hatred that has already gotten politicians and ordinary civilians alike killed, has gone ahead and said this about the attack:
She stepped up.
Was she evaluated after? What was the substance?
So the first thing out of Trump’s mouth regarding the Omar attack is that she probably staged it.
Should we file this under E, for “Every accusation is a confession?”
My first thought too.
I think he’s just reflexively engaging in the “No way was it our side that did it, we’re not inciting violence with our unhinged rhetoric!” argument. None of them want to admit to the consequences of their propaganda.
It’s worse. Trump hates Omar for a dozen different reasons and he would break out into a song and dance if she’d been really hurt.
She kept speaking for about 25 minutes after the incident, and didn’t seem to be in discomfort; it’s not clear if she went for a medical evaluation afterwards.
It’s not yet been announced what the substance was, though I would imagine that it was being analyzed. As per this AP story:
I’m betting it was urine, but who knows.
Yeah, I strongly suspect it was some flavor of bodily fluid.
Just in to CNN: The substance was apple cider vinegar.
Note that I said “just in,” and it’s only one source. I’m sure we’ll get confirmation or denial of that as the day goes on and multiple sources chime in.

I’m glad that it was nothing more harmful, if true, but WTF?

It’s supposedly a natural hair conditioner, which can also fight germs and is good for skin care.
The guy is reportedly a MAGA nutjob, and my WAG is that the “nut” part made him think that apple cider vinegar would send a strong message about something. Or maybe he wanted to attack her with acid and it was the most acidic thing he could find in his house.
