Was M*A*S*H* Peculiar To Only The Korean War?....

Gold, Jerry, comedy gold!

A military show about nothing !

Bombs, explosions, gunfire?

No, nothing happens.

Nothing?

Surely something happens?

NO! Nooooothhhinnngggg happens!

How about we throw in a private butler?!

NOW we are talking!

Of course if Jerry is German guy from the UN forces that makes it better on at least two levels.

I’ll bet that a few years ago they could have done a Hogan’s Hero’s type of show about peasants living under Taliban Rule. There’s a microphone in the opium pipe.

That’s one way to put it. Cronauer tried to parlay his AFRS experience into a series but no network was interested. He reworked the series pitch into a movie, which was rewritten by Mitch Markowitz for Robin Williams and released as an almost completely different movie eight years later.

Yep. Except the Hell with wippersnappers. And anonymous user names!
Which one of you old turds has “Debby Does Dallas” in their collection?
Betcha both do!

Without ninjas or pirates (modern Somali or ‘…of the Caribean’) it won’t.

OAKIE!!!

(somebody wipe this shit-eating grin off my face, please!:D)

No, on second thought, leave it there. I am just so happy to see my friend again!

Back to the topic though (in a way): When y’all read the books, who do you see as “Hawkeye”?

Alan Alda or Donald Sutherland?

IMHO, I have to go with Alan…

Q

Why?

I think Sutherland has more talent (although both are kinda old for the role now).

One of the mods left the back door open, so I sneaked in when nobody was looking. :D:p;)

And Hawkeye looks like Alda. Complete with bathrobe, cowboy hat, and martini.

Satire is my favorite genre of writing, and Hypno-Toad, you just tickled that bone a bit!

Thanks

Quasi

Ummmm. In case no one who clicked on the vid caught it - that last little splash on the screen: The Hunchback!!!, I feel an affinity for (if I may be permitted a prepositional ending to a sentence? If not, then please feel free to read it thusly: "I feel an affinity for… Asshole!)

Just joking around with y’all, and yes, I know I “stole” that joke!

I am glad you did. I have missed you.

Given this shitty disease, I need all the friends I can get, so I am very glad you’re back “Gandalf”!

Q

Sutherland is a terrific actor, but for the movie, it was just a “part” for him - as was “Kelly’s Heroes” where I first “met” Donald.

Alda “owned” it, IMHO. He took it, examined it, and gave his character the best he could.

They have both “moved on”, but there will always be a place in my heart for all the characters - movie or television!

Especially “Sidney Freedman”: “Ladies and Gentlemen, take my advice! Pull down your pants, and…”

?

Q

Og, I seem to be dominating this thread!

Oh well, just ignore me if y’all need to!

Gandalf? GANDALF???

Harrumph. Unlike that poser, I know how to DPS a raid mob. :D:D:D

Unfortunately, I can’t do it without high speed internet, and I can’t get high speed internet in my new house. :frowning:

That was meant as a compliment to you, jayjay et al.

I am “Frodo” to y’all’s “Gandalf”…

“What must I do, Gandalf?”

Oakie?

Whenever you get back on high-speed, let me know, okay?

So you can help me with advice (as** jayjay** does) on how to kick some ass?

Q

Scheisse!

I think I may have mis-directed this thread.

I AM sorry!

Can a mod help me out here, please?

Thanks

Q

I know, buddy. And if I ever to get high speed internet back, I’ll roll a character on your server and group with you sometime. I can make a Death Knight on any server and run you though the lower level dungeons, or something else and try to power-level up to your level. Or maybe transfer an existing character over.

That would be so greaT!

Oakie?

I’m glad you’re back!

And please don’t call me “Dear boy”!

See you in Alextzasca sometime.
