So I notice that the SD is sending people to snopes.com for answers to questions. This indicates some level of validity as a source of information. Happily reading about amazing and interesting facts, I stumble upon this: Mr. Ed was played not by a horse, but by a ZEBRA! What the hell? They say that no one could tell because the show was filmed in black and white…ok. So what’s the deal? Is this true, or is the more likely possibility that snopes.com enjoys starting their own urban myths as much as they enjoy debunking other people’s…
Say it isn’t so!
I think black and white TV would still differentiate zebra stripes…wouldn’t it be light and dark gray?
But besides that, zebras do not look like horses…check out those manes!
The Lost Legends portion of snopes.com is their own little practical joke. If you read the main page carefully, you’ll see:
"Note: Any relationship between these ratings and actual events is purely coincidental. "
And on the page for the “Mr. Ed was a zebra”, it says:
“Warning: Listen to Mr. Ed”
Well, Mr. Ed says he’s a horse, doesn’t he?
Sneaky of them, isn’t it?
And if you look down below on the Lost Legends page, they say the urban legend " When the Titanic hit an iceberg in the north Atlantic, the film The Poseidon Adventure was being screened aboard ship." is true.
Think real hard on that one, guys.
Phouka, if you get to that page through a search as opposed to going through the front and clicking on the TROLL link, you don’t get the “relationship” message- all you get is “Warning: Listen to Mr. Ed”. And I didn’t trust it, even if it was straight from the…

What helps their joke is the simulated IMDb listing for “The Poseidon Adventure (1911)”, as directed by DW Griffith.

I’m reasonably sure that if you just asked Zotti - in a personal e-mail - if he was a mulato, he would be more than happy to answer the question, and we wouln’t have to get into any racist terms like “zebra.” What do you think this is, The Jeffersons?

Mr. Ed was a purebred Palamino. His real name was Bamboo Harvester. That’s all I know.
