Was there a police drill before Oslo boming?

What do you think of this? What is this?

“… Oslo police were conducting a bombing exercise at a location near the Oslo Opera House just 48 hours before a terrorist blast hit a government building in the Norwegian capital …”

The link is just another half-cooked attempt at a conspiracy theory.

They’ve arrested the person responsible, he’s a right-wing racist madman

What is it with this conspiracy fuckwits? Nothing bad can happen anywhere, to anyone, without some loon insisting that the government/Illuminati/Jews/aliens are behind it.

Ironically, I think it makes them feel safer. Bad things only happen because big people cared enough to make it happen. Seeing as no one cares about little old me, bad things won’t happen to me.

Obviously, the logic is flawed, but I’ve seen how Conspiracty theorists seem to be comforted by their beliefs, instead of what you’d expect: being scared out of their minds due to paranoia.

I agree with this. And I’d add that overall there’s a sense that Big Events must have Big Causes, even though that’s rarely true. Notice how you never see conspiracy theories about failed attacks, even though the difference between success and failure can sometimes come down to chance. Compare the 40-odd years of conspiracy theories around the assassination of JFK to the complete lack of them regarding the attempt on Reagan’s life. Had Reagan died in the hospital, which he nearly did, you’d have a large group of people who would insist that Hinckley couldn’t be some lone nutjob who shot the president almost on a whim because he wanted Jodie Foster to notice him, no; he’d be painted as a stooge and people would debate it for decades. But since he didn’t die, it wasn’t a Big History-Altering Event, and people are content with taking the explanation of Hinckley’s motives at face value.

Jenaroph, that’s an interesting idea, I’d never though of looking at conspiracy theories that way before.

You’re just not paying attention. (And since there are several odd coincidences between Bush I and the JFK assassination, it really makes one wonder.)

Yeah, and President Kennedy had a secretary named Lincoln, Pres. Lincoln had a secretary named Kennedy, etc. Spooky, y’bet.

Fascinating. I’d never heard of that one.

Which is exactly my point. HAD Reagan died, I suspect this could have been exact conspiracy theory that would have taken off, sparked heated debates, major motion pictures, and become a cultural meme, instead of existing obscurely on the wackiest of wacky conspiracy theory sites.

That right there tells you everything you need to know. Prison Planet is notorious for claiming that everything is a conspiracy.

The question you should ask yourself, and ask them, is how often these drills occur throughout the year. How often are they followed by an actual attack?
