Upon searching, I found that there was a mention of it by cazzle on January 28th in the Death Pool '07 thread, but it was one line, the purpose of which was probably to let the participants in that thread know. Here’s the same link provided by cazzle in that thread.
She died on January 27th, seven-and-a-half years after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer and twelve days after her daughter, Angelina Jolie, took a stroll down the Red Carpet and was criticized in the celebrity mags and on one of E!'s fashion critique shows for being too “aloof” and not seeming “happy” to be at the Golden Globes.
I admit I’m not familiar with Bertrand’s work or anything she’s ever done outside a mention in the numerous articles, documentaries, etc that are devoted to her daughter; however, it’s known that Jolie highly regarded her mom. “Amazing” is a word often used by Angelina to describe Bertrand as both a woman and a mother. As a matter of fact, in interviews, Angelina’s “tough” exterior visibly softens when she talks about her mother. There’s definitely some devotion and deeply-felt love there.
Perhaps because my mom passed away following a lengthy period of decline just three years ago, and because I happen to think that Angelina Jolie is a very interesting person apart from just being Brad Pitt’s girlfriend, I feel bad that she’s lost her mom so young. I feel bad for anyone who’s had to lose a parent with whom there is such a close bond.
Marcheline Bertrand was 56, by the way, which is way too young to die.
