Watch Bald Eagle eggs hatch Vol. II

Is that daddy on the eggs now?

It’s really hard to watch live streaming video on my DSL (Damn Slow Linkage), but I see they’re having the same wind we’re having. Maw and Paw Eagle are both on the nest ATM. Can’t see the chick right now.

That’s Mom on the eggs, Pop was on the side of the nest.

Thanks. The one on the side looked larger, which should be the female I believe. Probably just camera perspective.

Right, they’ve got a wide-angle lens on there and the male was much closer to it.

Dad just came back with a nice trout. Took the head off it even! Dinnertime.

The website says a second pip was spotted last night, so egg #2 should be hatching today or tomorrow.

For anyone who’s wondering how to tell the male from the female, the best way is by looking at the brow ridge. It’s more prominent on the female and extends further back on the head. The female also has more gray around her eyes. The female is larger than the male but it’s hard to compare when only one is on the nest.

Eaglet #2 hatched about an hour ago. Eaglet #1 just had breakfast, raw fish served by Mom.

I think I’ve also seen them feeding bits of birds.

I’m also enjoying the songs of the other birds. The sparrows and other little birds poking around the edge of the nest are pretty amusing.

Hah! Our “local” TV news station (which is really from the Twin Cities) just had the webcam as one of their news stories. Do they even hire actual reporters any more?

What, you expect a reporter to go interview the Eagles?

That would be hiLARious! But no, they just seem to get most of their “news” content from the internet lately, offer the barest details of the story, then refer viewers to their web page for a link to the rest.

Yay, I finally got to see the babies!

Looks like a dead squirrel has been added to the buffet. And a pip was just spotted in egg #3. Hatch is likely within 24 hours, going by the first two.

Well, I just watched two of them being fed. So cute! The tiny little albino chicks were poking at each other while mom was chewing on something that looked like a fish.

Egg #3 hatched last night! This is the fourth year in a row that this pair has successfully hatched 3 eaglets.
