Watching a 3D movie with subtitles, how is it?

Hi all,

I’m planning to go see the Desolation of Smaug in 3D in a few hours, french dubbed.

Last year I had seen the first movie in 3D and french too, because I thought the subtitles might be distracting.

I see that our local movie theater has programmed a seance for the original version of Desolation, subtitled, and in 3D, in a couple weeks.

I usually prefer to see movies in their original language, but never saw a 3D movie with subtitles, so how is it?

(The price of a ticket is only 4 euros whether I see it in 3D, 2D, dubbed or not or whatever, so price doesn’t enter into the discussion. It might be of interest that I never saw any of the LotR movies in english, I saw them all dubbed.)

No big deal. The subtitles may appear slightly closer to you than the rest of the scene.

Note: as a dutch filmgoer, I’m used to subtitles. I hardly notice them, but YMMV.

If you sit down the front the subtitles come out behind you in 3D. Your neck gets really sore whipping around between what’s being said on the screen and reading the subtitles floating above the eighth row of seats.

The previous post is entirely untrue.

Is that you, Kathy Griffin ?

Oh wait, you’re Anderson Cooper?
