I do almost always. I usually remember about the second or thrd commercial in. It makes me feel like such a retard. Just wondering how common this is.

Never. I can usually sense when a commercial break is coming up, and I have my finger poised on the remote, ready to go to FF3.

You need a “Just plain never” vote choice. I’ve had a TiVo since they came out and my thumb is perfectly trained to skip those commercials.
Almost never, but sometimes I’ll “rewind” to watch a funny comercial, like the “I’m the man your man could smell like”.
Strictly speaking, I do not fast-forward as I use the 30-second skip.
I’ll do that if something catches my eye. Just the other day I saw the words Star Trek flash on the screen for a second. I rewound to see what it was.
Really? The Next Generation is on BBC America? Who knew?
I do the opposite. When I’m watching live TV, like the Magic/Celtics game the other night, I was trying to fast forward through the commercials. Too bad that doesn’t work, what with wagering and all.

I don’t do either. I usually watch DVRed shows using Windows Media Player and I do my skipping ahead using the progress bar.
For watching 24 this weekend, I’ll probably use MPlayer, though, which has a 10-second skip and a 1-minute skip.
My problem is that I try to fast forward when I’m watching a non-recorded show.
I picked “other” because there was no “never forget” option. If I watch a commercial on a DVRed show it’s because I wanted to, not because I *forgot *I was watching a recorded program.
I voted 50/50 though in truth I’d estimate my remember:forget ratio is a little better than that. I do think I feel disproportionately ridiculous when I forget.
Ever try to fast forward with your cordless phone? Now that’s embarrassing! I blame having multiple black remotes and a black phone all lying around. 
I use the thirty second skip between plays in the NFL. It takes 30 minutes to watch a game.
I always fast-forward, buy my husband is so trained to me using the remote that if he watches a show when I don’t, he’ll forget that he has the remote and will diligently watch each commercial until I remind him he has the power to skip them.
I’ve got to remind my wife to skip too. She usually doesn’t take it well. Occasionally she’ll claim she was actually watching the commercial on purpose. I never believe her though, especially when its for diabetes supplies or NASCAR.
I forget a lot. I often remember around the fourth or fifth commercial and then FF3. Then I’m 30 seconds into the show again, and have to rewind to the end of the break. Then I’m back to commercial #3.
