Watching World Curling

Canada just misses scoring two after over brushing their last stone.

5 ends and 4 forces. These teams look really evenly matched. I’m really not sure why Sweden didn’t draw on the last rock of the fifth end. It seems to me that there was a lot of ways for the hit and stick to end really badly for them with Canada lying three and having the shot stone frozen to another Canadian stone.

Why do the Swedes have “361°” on their shirts?

Bang-bang and out! Still with the hammer.

Looking really likely now. Canada finally scores 2 to lead 4-2 going into the final end. What a defensive struggle this has been.

Bang-bang sitting three!

What a great match. Clearly the two best teams in the world.

But yay Canada!!

This, presumably

Canada’s men and women combined for a 26-0 record at the World’s. What a year for Canadian curling.

Though that doesn’t answer the question of who came up with that stupid name for a sporting equipment company.

I note that the Canadian players were top-ranked by percentage for each position. The next-best were the Scots with every player 2nd, 3rd or 4th, followed by the Swedes, slightly worse than the Scots. Pretty dominant tournament for Gushue.

361:

Running in circles?

Taking the long way around just to keep going the way you already are?

Too dumb to realize a one-degree turn in much shorter than a 361 degree turn?

361 degrees! Too hot for human life, not hot enough to bake a pizza.
Assuming Fahrenheit.

They’re Swedes.

Yeah, but I’m not. And the joke doesn’t really work otherwise.

Maybe they meant Kelvin.

Still too hot for ice rinks, not hot enough for pizza, but just a warm day in Arizona…

I finally got around to watching the final game. Gushue simply outplayed Edin. Clearly the nos. 1 and 2 teams in the world. Even if Edin had frozen his last shot, Gushue could have frozen on top of him and, if that didn’t work, they would still have the hammer in the extra.

The Danes looked like a junior team and were improving all week. But the Russians stunk out the place. Shuster impressed.

Gushue and Homan 26, world 0.
