water and mud...everywhere...

Rain is just not nice. Especially if it doesn’t stop and causes flooding all over Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia.

Today, it finally stopped raining here for the first significant length of time since Friday. There’s water and mud all over the place and the river which runs conveniently through the center of town is several feet above its banks. (There’s a walking path that runs alongside the river in a few spots. Judging by landmarks, it’s under three feet of rushing water.) I was out of school today because roads around the county were impassable. And it’s really not that bad here. Nobody was evacuated or anything.

Unfortunately, rain is supposed to start falling again (!) tonight and keep falling until Wednesday. My county is under another flood warning. This ought to be interesting. I hate rain.

Wow, we could use some rain. Maybe not that much though. Course, it is raining right now. We’ve ever had one delay or early dismissal or wehatever for rain in the 10 years of my schooling.

2 or 3 years ago (I think) it was a major storm, school was called out early because alot of kids lived across a river and the road followed the river for a bit. Buses had a wee bit of trouble there.

Eh, we’ve never closed for rain before either. Heck, it snowed a few weeks ago, making the roads rather slick, and we weren’t closed. But the water is pretty high.

And we’re probably still under drought conditions too. Heh.
