Wave particle duality

Wave particle duality is much more complicated then some of these threads make it seem. The confusion about whether or not light is a wave or a particle comes from a misunderstanding about what particles are. All matter has this duality. Experiments have been done with electrons showing that they have an interference patern when sent through a slit, just like a wave. There is a real simple equation to determine the wave length of any object with mass. In fact, if you could travel slow enough, you could cause an interference pattern with yourself when you travel through a door way.

Welcome to the Straight Dope Message Board, *ihumpher. It’d probably be helpful, when you are the first poster starting a thread, to provide a link to the Staff Report upon which you are commenting. In this case, Straight Dope Staff Report: How can light be both a wave and a particle?

Also, since there are already several threads on this topic, you would probably get more responses to your comments if you would have posted in one of them, rather than starting a new thread. No biggie, just friendly suggestions for the future, and because I’m being overly bureaucratic in my administrative duties tonight.
