Way to drum up viewers for Arrested Development, Fox Execs.

Ya know, I used to like Arrested Development a little bit. It wasn’t one of my “must watch” shows, but it had a beat you could dance to.

But all this ranting and raving since it’s been cancelled has really made me start to hate it.

If someone says they didn’t care for it, say something nice or don’t say anything at all.

I’m sick of the people spouting the “you just don’t get it” line and I’m really tired of people wailing about all of the other undeserving shows that Fox still has on and Fox management in general.

It’s fucking annoying, get over yourselves.

Is Showtime still interested? I hope so. It’s a really good show, but not the kind of show that’s going to draw a *wide * audience. Too quirky.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true.

I think quirky can be extremely popular, if it’s marketed right. ABC could be a good home for quirky. Most of Fox’s shows aren’t a good match for AD. Some of ABC’s shows, like Boston Legal or Lost, seem like a good place to advertise AD.

Or I could just be insane.

Lets see, a 2 hour finale for a 30 minute show. It sounds to me that FOX just wants to air the last 4 episodes in one night and be done with it.

…From chapter 13 of “How to Win Friends and Influence People,” I bet. Negotiations and rumors are just that. We have no idea if the show is actually coming back. Is there some reason this bothers you so much? Did Ron Howard egg your house on Halloween or something?

fox.com only shows the schedules for this week and next; is February 10 the next time AD will be shown?

Can I openly apologize to Arrested Development fans? I never watched the show until yesterday. Got it on Netflix after seeing all the fans here.

Damn that show is funny.

So, again, sorry.

I don’t watch the show, but you have my sympathy, because FOX does this to a number of good shows coughFIREFLYcough while pumping their stupid reality shows.

So feel free to count on my scorn againest FOX.

You’re the first person to bring up the “don’t get it” non-argument in this thread.

Fine, whatever.

But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s infected every other AD thread for months.

And how fucking stupid do you have to be to complain about the scheduling of a cancelled show? The fact that it’s cancelled means Fox is under no obligation to show any of it.

These would be the AD fan threads that have been infected by people saying “I’ve never seen it but it sucks”? Honestly, if you don’t like the show, stay out of the fan threads. If you insist on participating in fan threads, don’t complain when you’re pounced on for shitting in those threads. It ain’t rocket surgery, Steinberg.

Maybe the title of the thread mislead him.

But I LIKE the show. It’s just all the constant negativity towards Fox and the public at large in thread after thread (most threads started solely to be negative about something stupid, like here) is tiring.

I just think you whiny cry babies need to be taught a lesson. And just my luck, I know a guy with one arm.

Ah, got it.

And that’s why you should never infect a thread.

As far as I’m concerned, FOX deserved all the scorn that can be heaped upon it for it’s programming practices.

A bunch of retarded monkeys could be better network programmers then whoever does the fox programming.

Sticks and stones may break my bones but Arrested Development is still being cancelled.

Personally, I think Fox worked really hard to promote it. What they didn’t do was work smart. And there’s just something about it that is wholly forgetable. I explained my love of it to my parents maybe 5 or 6 times. Each time, they said “Oh, that sounds good, I never heard of it.” Clearly, the show doesn’t do a good job of selling itself.

And while not everyone who dislikes it is a moron, you’ll have to admit that it takes a bit of effort to fully appreciate it. If you don’t actively watch, it won’t do much for you. And most Americans don’t want to have to put effort into watching TV.

It’s not just that you have to pay attention while you watch it. It’s also that you have to watch it every week or you’ll be lost. A friend introduced this show to me by showing me the first season DVD and I thought it was pretty funny. I tried to watch it a few times much later when I happened to find it on, and I was so completely baffled by what was going on that I couldn’t get back into it. There’s a progression of events from show to show, and you have to watch them all to keep up.

I’m just a causual TV-watcher. I’m not going to watch it every time it’s on, and I’m never going to watch it if you have to do that keep up. I wonder how many people are the same way.

I’m going to have to disagree with that. I was a sporadic watcher for the first two seasons, and while I felt like I would have benefitted from having watched from the beginning, I still got enjoyment out of it. The opening title gives you all you need to know in general, and the narration fills you in on the rest. True, there are in-jokes from previous episodes, but there are enough free-standing jokes to still make it watchable.

It must be a FOX policy to cancel any show with an average viewership IQ greater than room temperature. :frowning:
