We are in a contest to win an IVF with Dr. Sher at SIRM - Please Vote

I talked about it a bit in the Pit thread, but I suspect I have immune system issues which lead to the early losses. SIRM and Dr. Sher specialize in these types of issues, which is why we’d like to see him. Prior to any future IVF’s, we will be doing more specific testing for immune issues, including an NK Cell Assay and Anti-phospholipid Antibodies. This type of testing is not available in Canada, so we have to do it through a lab in the US (Millinova or Reprosource). I have had all the preliminary testing for immune issues done here, as well as the repeat pregnancy loss panel (RPL), which includes things like MTHFR, lupus, thyroid, etc. The problem with the standard RPL panel is that the immune issues identified are often indicated in second or third term losses, not early losses, so they don’t mean much (for our situation).

Voted for you!

Got my second vote in from home

Voted.

Am I allowed to post a link to my blog here? I posted a big thank you to everyone. If not, I can just copy and paste.

I voted, but I’ll admit, the whole contest seems pretty mean to me. To encourage people to get that hope and excitement before there’s even any treatment seems harsh. But maybe I’m not seeing it like you would.

Your video was incredibly well done. You should be a professional.

StG

I voted, and my fingers will remain firmly crossed. Also, thanks for posting the link with the update on the adoption, I’d missed that before. My left-over fingers are crossed for that little girl.

voted for ya, did not look at the videos.

Thank you St.Germain. Both of us put a lot of work in to the video. I spent a week or so planning what I wanted to get across, so I’m happy with the response to it.

The voting has now been extended over the weekend because of the website issues on Tuesday. Thank you everyone who has voted so far!

Just a quick update.

First, voting has been extended until Monday morning because of the technical issues they had earlier this week.

Second, based upon Youtube video views only, we are in fourth place right now. Of course, one can’t go on that alone - for instance, one of the families with the top views were the feature ‘image’ in the Facebook posts. Regardless, thank you all so much for your votes and kindness!

Grumpf. I’m not allowed to vote again.

Voted and wishing you luck and fortune.

Voted. Really hope you guys make it.

I hope it’s ok if I bump this.

The voting continues until Monday morning at 10 am PST. I think we have a very good chance of being finalists, so thank you all!

I just voted for you once with my computer, and a second time with my smart phone. So, there are two votes…

Didn’t watch your video however… Just had our 3rd transfer attempt on the 12th, preg test on the 24th… We’ll see if our Christmas is a good one or not… Hoping that we BOTH have a Merry Christmas!

Thank you and good luck. I hope the 24th brings a special Christmas gift.

Less than four hours to go until voting is closed. The finalists go to the judging panel - I think we might actually have a chance at this. Thanks everyone!

Well??

Thanks for asking. I was planning an update post but work got to me this week.

We didn’t make the finals. On Monday evening they announced who the ten finalists were and we were not on the list. Honestly, it seems a bit fishy to me, and to a lot of the people involved, but there isn’t anything we can do about it. All of the finalists happen to be the ‘easier’ cases, so it seems…less then honest. Oh well.

I am disappointed. I was really, really expecting to at least make the finalist list, and it was more of a blow to me then I expected because this was just a last minute contest that came up and it’s not our ‘last chance’ or anything.

What we did win, though, was a realization that there are so many people out there that care about us and put time and effort in to trying to help us win. We are so, so lucky, so thank you again to all of you for taking the time to read this post, watch the video and vote.

Sorry to hear that. :frowning: I wish you both the best of luck.
