There is a song in my head, and I can’t remember where I heard it. It is a group of drunks/bums or something like that, and they are singing
“We are poor lost sheep, that are gone astray
Baa-Baa-Baa.
We are poor lost sheep, that have lost our way
Baa-Baa-Baa.”
I think it may be I Love Lucy, or something like that.
Can anybody give me an idea?
Thanks,
greatshakes
Wasn’t that from the Black Sheep Squadron?
We are poor little lambs, who’ve lost our way. . .
Ah, and on research, that comes from the Whiffenpoof Song chorus.
A rather old and venerable song, I think it was a ‘greatest hit’ for Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians, as well as for Bing Crosby and several others.
Are you not thinking of one of the choruses, “All We Like Sheep Have Gone Astray” (Youtube link), from Handel’s Messiah?
Also used as the them for the 70s era TV show Baa Baa Black Sheep.
Also note, the words were originally from an 1895 poem by Rudyard Kipling.
Which is why I think most people would recognize the song.
