a somewhat parallel if differently inspired dissonance, the snatching of the four peace volunteers in Iraq (I guess it’s about 5 weeks or more now–they seem really to have been forgotten) in the face of a truly impressive outpouring from the palestinians they had just finished helping on the way to their abduction in Iraq (an “appointment in samarra”?)
You’ld think that the “forward-looking terrorist” would have room to modify his target when it turned out actually to be a friend of the oppressed, but oh no, no such luck.
it is somewhat perplexing from an american perspective that the Danes should come in for this kind of shit–I realize that their gesture of solidarity in WWII with the Jews may not be the precise currency acceptable to angry muslims as proof of a commitment to fight discrimination, but it kind of stands out from, say, the brave French behavior in similar straits…
I was referencing the national Danish wearing of the yellow mogen david thus preventing persecution of jewish Danes vs. vichy and the quiet rendition (a word to conjure with) of the jewish French to the gestapo
next time there’s an earthquake or tsunami in some muslim country, I won’t contribute a dime. I gave (generously I might add) to the tsunami relief. Maybe if the world acted this way, these idiots would gain a little sense. :smack:
certainly an understandable position, altho’ I really yearn to throw down on Qureshi himself. The trouble with generalized disadvantagement is that it’s generalized. One of the salient characteristics of the regimes under which the moronic venting is taking place is that they are to a greater or lesser degree insulated from the consequences of their policy of inflaming mobs.
I’m gonna vote for the unicef bags and the countersnuff (yes, I know, an eye for an eye and soon we’re all blind). At least it would send a message (like if in twenty four hours the snuff qureshi thermometer topped ten million, at least he’d know how pissed we are…)
