Don’t hold your breath. Computer crimes by their very nature are extremely difficult to investigate, let alone prosecute. I don’t think they ever caught those guys who took down the Playstation network, or stole all those credit cards from Target years ago. And unfortunately I doubt very much that the FBI would expend any manpower investigating a cyberattack that didn’t result in identity theft or other financial damage – heck, I’ll bet some users here were more productive over the last two days, without the SDMB to distract them. I sure know I was. 
My gut tells me that this was probably the act of someone with a personal vendetta against the boards, instead of some random drive-by script kiddie. But then, my gut also tells me that Burger King Whoppers are good for me, so there’s that.

I tried to log in using the sock account I created but was unable to successfully use during the recent unpleasantness. Alas, Socky McSockface was already banned before posting a single post. The board helpfully informed me that the reason for poor Socky’s banning is his being a sock, and the date when the ban will be lifted is “never.”
Too bad. It was a great username for a sock.

Wow, I was moderately impressed at the fixes here and then I saw that the clock was keeping the correct time. Now I’m really impressed.

a) I do indeed thank everyone who worked to get us through this - techs, admins, mods and everyone else.
b) I will not be normal. For me to be normal would be so abnormal as to be frightening.
I prefer to think of “normal” in the sense of “perpendicular”.
