Wil Wheaton is an icky elf.
Was there really a show like this? I thought this thread was going to be a game or something.
Huh. I like Wil Wheaton as anything but Wesley Crusher. I thought he did okay on Weakest Link, before I was forced to change the channel because that show annoys the hell out of me. I liked how he answered as soon as he could infer the answer from the question, to save time. Seems like a good strategy, and usually when he did it he got it right.
Shatner was in rare form, I admit (with grudging admiration.)
I was so happy:
<<<<<SPOILER>>>>>>
Two of my favorite actors of the Star Trek saga, Robert Picardo (EMH holographic doctor in Voyager) and LeVar Burton (Engineer LaForge in TNG) were in the final round playing for a record jackpot for the show.
Who says celebrities are all dumb?
wolfstu, it was on this evening at 8:00, 7:00 Central.
Podkayne, he was really gross tonight. Anne dogged him for spelling his name with only one “L.” (Wil: “Spelling my name with only one L…” Anne: “…is pretentious.”). He said he voted off Roxann Dawson because he is “a liitle in love with her” and she was the “only one up here who’s as good-looking as I am.” Then he voted off Denise Crosby and Anne asked him if he has problems with women. He said something like “yeah, keeping them off me.” Roxann said in the little interview segment how disgusting she thought he was to come on to her on national TV when her husband would be watching, and I gotta agree with her. When he finally got voted off, he popped off with some ridiculous story about how he was playing “a parody of an actor” in his talk segments. Uh huh. Not believing it for a second. Icky elf. Way icky elf.
capacitor, I certainly wouldn’t say all celebrities are dumb. But I would say that Weakest Link dumbs down its questions for its celebrity editions. (“What’s 16 divided by 2?”)
All that being said, I thought Shatner was a hoot. He proudly continued the tradition of overplaying himself as much as he overplays his every role. Armin Shimmerman was pretty funny. I was sorry John DeLancie got voted off so quickly. I’ve never seen Roxann Dawson out of makeup before. I totally didn’t recognize her until she said she played B’elanna. She’s a very beautiful woman.
Well, Ienjoyed the show, and I would like to think that Wil was in fact trying to play up a role foisted on him by the host. I Like ROxanne, but I think she was way overreacting to WIl’s jokes; they did not seem to be any more “sincere” than any one else’s good-natured jibes. I think WIl has just gotten way too much heat from his Wesley role on STTNG, and it is just slopping over over onto him in real life.
I wish Q could have stayed longer, too.
My boyfriend is a nerd who introduced me to www.wilwheaton.net. I’ve only read what he’s pointed out to me, but Wil certainly seems like a cool guy, and I think all his cheesy remarks were tongue-in-cheek. Roxanne Dawson totally had a bug up her ass.
Overall, I think the episode was entertaining, and they proved to be a reasonably smart bunch.
Wil Wheaton is a nerd. I like nerds. I saw him on some tv show (not MTV’s Cribs) where they come out and do a feature on celebrities in their homes. He had all these old video games and stuff and he was pretty funny. I was surprised to know he was married and just found out he also has two kids Nolan and Ryan. I wonder if they were named after the baseball hall of famer?
Anyways, I didn’t see the episode of Weakest Leak so I don’t know how he acted on the show. I’d like to think he was just being a goof.
Ditto on Roxanne Dawson’s overreaction. Oy… Rox, dear, shall we explain to you the concept of a joke?
Other than Roxanne’s hissy at Wil, there, I was rather impressed with the whole bunch of 'em (although I missed the last 20 minutes.), on the whole (knowledge and amusement wise).
I read Wil Wheaton’s website first, but I do think it was obvious he was playing it up. I thought he was funny. Actually, I thought they all were funny. I wonder if Roxanne Dawson was joking too. I think I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt.
I think it was the most amusing WL to date, and I was impressed especially with Levar Burton and Robert Picardo. They seem genuinely funny and nice.
But then, my logic is uncertain when Trek is involved.
That is like the most money i have seen anyone win on that show, celebrity or not. i admit i don’t watch it regularly anymore, but the previous largest prize i had seen was $77,000, and they broke $160,000!
too bad Q got voted off right away, he was the only one i had met in real life.
LeVar Burton was saying after the game that it was a record take.
Re. the Wil Wheaton “controversy”, when Roxanne was voted off, she seemed to have mouthed something like “I love you too” towards Wil.
And, did I imagine it or did Bill Shatner almost made Anne crack up ?
I caught the show just as Wil was gettting voted off, sure… it would have been better if he’s been thrown out an airlock but I digress.
They did win a lot of money but who couldn’t answer those questions? ie. What’s 20 times 20? Puhleese!
It was completely obvious that Wil was playing up his obnoxiousness – I giggled throughout. I was a bit amazed that Roxanne took it so seriously, when it was clear he was only joking. “I’m a little in love with her … because she’s the only one up here as good-looking as me.” How can anyone take a comment like that seriously? Sheesh.
On the whole, the Star Trek actors played the game very well. Their total was impressive, and the two left at the end were intelligent and it seemed evenly matched. I’m not such a fan of the show, but with nothing else particularly on last night, I’m glad I stopped on it.
That was The ScreenSavers on Tech TV.
Noooooooooo! I missed it!
:sings in that taunting way children will:
I have it on ta-ape
I have it on ta-ape
:giggles maniacally:

BTW, I agree that Roxann sure seemed to have a stick up her butt. And how come “Wil” is pretentious but “Roxann” isn’t? Huh? Huh?
Damn DeLancie is tall.
Um, I didn’t see most of what you’re talking about (due to the annoyingness, and the channel-changing) and maybe I’m Unclear on the Concept, but I thought they were deliberately hamming it up and saying seemingly bitchy things during the interviews and making up ridiculous reasons why they were voting each other off just to get into the spirit of the game.
. . . the “spirit of the game” being the reason I don’t normally watch Weakest Link, of course.
[CBG]Best. Episode. Ever.[/CBG]
…Not that I watch it much, but I couldn’t pass this one up.
Oooh, and here comes the Feynmeister, the Feymeisterino, who has never stubbed his toe in a little bitty crack and almost tripped and fallen flat on his face.
