The National Meteorological Service puts out a couple of 48 hr. precipitation forecasts. ‘AVN’ and ‘Eta’ computer model forecasts are available on a website that I check out. Which one of these models is considered more accurate ? Is one better than the other under specific circumstances. Anything else I need to know before I start using these as my main precipitation forecaster ?

Since they’re all working with the same raw data, they’re all about the same. Best bet for rain forecast? Stick your head out the window and see for yourself.
Best hint for finding best weather forecast in your area: find a caterer who does a lot of outdoor weddings and ask them who they pay the most attention to.
