Weather in The Maldives

What time of year is monsoon season?

July to September, although they get pre-monsoon rains as early as May.

I had a search around and found this:

The Maldives Tourism Board site has a travel FAQ at http://visitmaldives.com/en/pages/travel-faq http://visitmaldives.com/en/pages/travel-faq which notes that rain is frequent in June and July.

NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (www.noaa.gov) has a Monsoon Index available at http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/Global_Monsoons/Asian_Monsoons/monsoon_index.shtml.

If you look at their section on Global Monsoons, they have maps showing monsoon activity and you’ll see that the Maldives fall under the area of Asian-Australian Monsoons (http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/Global_Monsoons/Asian_Monsoons/Asian_Monsoons.shtml).

If you wanted to travel at short notice, the Forecast tool tracks predicted activity over the coming 7 days at http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/Global_Monsoons/Asian_Monsoons/gfs_model.shtml
