Web Design for the Clinically Insane Obsessive-Compulsive

Oh. My. God. That site is evil incarnate. It’s so ugly that my eyes were watering. I let it load for a good ten minutes and it was still going, so I killed it before it crashed my Firefox.

In all seriousness, I can’t believe her hosting service lets her do that. She must be on a hella good bandwidth plan.

You are assuming people visit that site for reasons other than to point and laugh. I’ll bet she’s used more bandwidth from people visiting her site just to see how truly awful it is than she’s had for any other types of visit ever … or will ever have.

It loaded just fine for me. Longer than usual, but still loaded.

The music isn’t so bad.

There is also a video somewhere in the site. Did anyone watch it? She’s running as a write in candidate for district 9 on the city council. I’m not sure for what city though, as I didn’t feel like watching the whole video.

Well thanks a bunch for hanging my browser!!!

I’m guessing Johannesburg…

My EYEEEES!!! It CANNOT BE UNSEEN!!

What hardware, software, and connection? (You wouldn’t happen to be using an IBM Roadrunner would you?)

Dilute! Dilute! Dilute!

It crashed Firefox on my Linux box when I tried to close the tab.

Chrome (Linux) loaded this entire page in just under 5 minutes. The HTML alone is 1.5 MB and over 14000 lines.

Also, I found Bella’s resume buried in all this crap:

oh, and since part of me wondered if viewing the full 8000x20000 pixel canvas might reveal a hidden message, I started piecing together screenshots but gave up pretty quickly.

and… the site has 4 other pages, all like the home page

Great bouncing Og. I don’t know whether to boggle at the insanity or marvel at the dedication…

Wait… is she implying that this … this … monstrosity … is her resume?! Or was her entire CV mired in the crap as well as that little intro?

That snippet I think pretty much sums it up well enough: A stream-of-semi-consciousness pile of utter refuse.

THERE’S MORE?!

I tried it on one of the new iMacs at the Apple Store. It launched the page in about 5 seconds.

I was very confused by this. Either Safari started surreptitiously pre-loading the content of linked pages (including Ms. de Soto’s) when I opened this thread, or Apple has one heck of a pipe to the Eaton Centre, or most of the gruntwork involved with this page is rendering instead of mere download (as I had believed), or someone else had looked at it on that machine and it was cached. What do you think?

You win the thread.

It actually loaded in less than 2 minutes for me, on a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac, using Safari 4.

But daaaaaaamn!

I noticed there’s a link that says, “We appreciate your support! Donate now to keep this site online.” Can anybody find a link in there where we can pay for her to take it down?

AMD Dual Core 1.9 GHz, Firefox 3.5, 12mbps.

The inescapable SOUND TRACK is driving me nuts! It overrides my attempts to mute, to lower the volume, even to redirect the sound output to external headphones!

I had to close out, I can’t have sound blasting like that this time of night.

Took about 20 seconds for me, with Firefox. My computer is nothing special - 3.0 GHz dual core, 4 GB RAM. The site was asking for Media Player and Quicktime plug-ins, though, which I’m not about to install. Perhaps that’s why it loads so fast for me?

When I first loaded it, it only took a few seconds to fill the viewport - but the status bar indicated it was downloading content for the remainder of the 5 minutes. I tested it on my Windows machine, which has a considerably slower processor but has no plugins installed, and the full download went much quicker - maybe 30 seconds.

The resume is on it’s own page, and loads much quicker: News - Radź Sobie

Wow. Just wow. At least I know we will get a nice Amtrak ride on the way to the concentration camps.

Jebus. Her entire freakin’ resume is wrapped in a mailto link! And it exists in a page that is every inch as ugly – if smaller – than her main page(s).

This … THIS … is what accounting does to you.
