I started work in the web technologies department this week at work and already have my first head scratcher.
I have to make an organizational chart for my department. Normally a simple Word document would do, but they want it to be interactive. When you click on a name in the chart, it take you to their information in the on-line directory.
Currently, we have an applet chart on-line, but some have complained that they can’t save it as a document.
Image mapping is not practical because it’d be a pain to update. I’ve tried saving a Word document as a HTML file. While it’ll display the chart as a .gif, it still requires the user to download a plug-in. Not practicale for those who do not have admin privileges on their work stations.
I’m going to try Power Point as soon as the sys admin guys install the org chart function. Just in case that doesn’t work, does anyone know of a way to make an organizational chart for the web?
Sorry
