Web Sites

I spend a lot of time searching for interesting web sites. being retired & fighting Parkinsonism.
Many searches yeald little of interest to me. I do find a gem now & then, but with so many sites it becomes frustrating.
How about listing some favorite sites that you have found?
I’ll list mine later.
Thanks, Carl

This is comedic in nature with articles, movie reviews, fun little things to try. I don’t go all that often, but I’ve been visiting it longer than any other website I’ve come across. (except for a certain… ahem… private one)

Here are two sites that have links to any number of strange and different sites. Sometimes they overlap, but there great time wasters. Enjoy.

And

http://www.superbad.com

Helluva way to waste time.

This should keep you busy for a while, especially what with all the archives:

The Centre for the Easily Amused - Tons of stuff here. It can keep one amused for hours.

The Last Word at the New Scientist- A collection of everyday science questions and answers.

The Dumb Criminals Library - Quite interesting. Also part of the Dumb Library (dumb warnings, dumb laws, etc).

The Useless Pages - Has links and reviews of thousands of completely useless web sites.

Movie Critic - rate the movies you’ve watched, and they will tell you which movies you’ll like. The best feature is the one that will match up movies with another member, and find movies you’ll BOTH like.

The Queendom’s Tests - More tests than you can shake a stick at, if you were so inclined. Explore your personality, relationships, career, brain or general knowledge.

Former Child Star Central - Ever wondered what ever happened to…

Deep Thoughts, by Jack Handy - No matter how many times I read these, they still make me giggle like a school girl.

Feynns Cool Sites - Our homepage links section. Heavy on the humour.

A couple of my favorites:

Mullets Galore!

and

Baiting

Web Soup is a list of best of lists – very diverse.

My Boot has an interesting novella (uncompleted, although updates are expected) and lot’s of good content by an interesting author.

Mike Jasper is a pistol – he’s on vacation, but the archives are extensive.

The Sacramento Bee has one of the best on-line papers. Here’s the funny pages:

I liked the Movie Critic site, too, lolagranola. Unfortunately, it’s been dead for a while (at least 6 months). Since then, I mainly go to the Internet Movie Database. It doesn’t have the feature that will predict other movies you will like (or at least not well implemented), but I spend massive amounts of time there just browsing movies and reading the insanely large amounts of tidbits of data about them.

[shameless self-promotion]
Visit Too Many Colors, the webzine for the discerning cretin! Movies, music, TV, astronauts, general silliness!

Huh? I’m there rating movies right now?

That’s bizarre. I’ve been trying every once in a while for several months, using different browsers, different computers, and different ISPs, and I haven’t been able to connect. The browser finds the URL all right, but nothing ever displays (in Netscape) or I get a “Cannot find server” error (IE). I have no idea why it doesn’t work for me.

Hey–why don’t you find out what movie the two of us would both enjoy. My user name there is also esswedl, I think.
