Website Weirdness- WTF ???

Recently, I’ve had two bizarre things happen with major mainstream websites and I’m hoping someone with more tech savvy than myself can clue me in to wht might be happening.

The first incident involved Facebook. I am a member of a closed group that deals with highly personal subject matter. A few weeks ago I logged onto the group and saw a recent post tagged with “Bill Williams, Bob Johnson and 3 others like this” I freaked out a little bit because Bill Williams is a college ex-boyfriend and Bob Johnson is my teen-aged nephew and neither of them should’ve had access to the group. Frankly, even if they did neither of them would be interested in the group and it’s kind of inconceivable that they would’ve liked a post about a woman they don’t know getting a new roommate.

Still I took a screenshot of the page and sent it to the group administrator - so I know I wasn’t imagining it. The likes didn’t show up on her page. When I closed Facebook and went back to the page the likes had disappeared. And I haven’t seen any other suspicious likes ( although if I saw them outside of the context of a closed group I might not notice them ). Still, it was curious and it makes me wonder if Facebook is telling my friends that I like things I’ve never seen.

The second incident involved an Amazon marketplace purchase. I received an expensive item that I was not aware I had ordered – in fact I seem to recall that I tried to order it 2 or 3 times and got an error message that the item was no longer available from the seller.
I got a return authorization on it without a problem from the seller whom I’ll call ABC Computers. But I have noticed that when I go to Amazon’s “Check my orders” page and click on the item - which is a very specific listing with a long complex part number – the seller does not show up as ABC Computers but as someone else. And the seller that showed up when I clicked the item yesterday is not the same seller that shows up when I clicked it today. I was wondering if the two incidents were related and maybe I got the error message because the order request went through to the wrong vendor ( but at another level it went through correctly because I actually got the item so I don’t know ). Maybe this is normal and Amazon is redirecting me to another seller offereing exact same item for some reason but it is still strange.

At this point I’m confused - it may be that I’m just OCD but these 2 incidents are really bugging me. Any clues??

The Amazon thing is easy. An item which has multiple sellers with the “best” price will have each of those sellers show up for the item over time. I guess the idea is to give the sellers an equal chance to get the business by having top billing.

I’m an admin of a secret FB group and I think I’ve had that same thing reported to me - someone posted to our group, someone on their friend list liked it or commented on it, then it disappeared.

I chalked it up to a very, very unfortunate and very uncool FB glitch. But, I don’t think you’re crazy.

What I’ve noticed on Facebook is that occasionally something will come up on the newsfeed and apparently I’ve already “Liked” it, even though I’m seeing it for the first time. For a while I wondered if these might be old posts appearing again or if maybe I just forgot Liking it. But about a week ago my husband Liked a post, too—except he’s never used his Facebook account since I set it up for him three years ago.
