Wedding Rings

I’ve been wearing mine less and less. It doesn’t fit and I’m so afraid I’m going to lose it. Those plastic things to make them fit tighter are irritating too. The plastic gets so hard over time.

My husband takes his off to sleep, but otherwise wears it all the time.

Is it still “24/7” if there’s about six hours a day of fiddling with it, pulling it off and on, accidentally dropping it during said fiddling so it rolls under something remote, and getting weird stains on your pants while getting down on the floor to reach under said remote object to retrieve the ring?

Just asking hypothetically, you understand.

(By the way, anyone have a clean damp rag I can borrow?)

Almost always, unless I’m swimming in the ocean.

can’t wear what you never had.

rings are also a danger with machinery, electricity and sanitary.

Never, I took it off at the end of my wedding day and it hasn’t been back on since. My fingers swell and I find wearing rings uncomfortable. The verbal commitment and signed marriage license mean a lot more to me than my ring. I couldn’t even tell you where it is right now.

NFL commentators have made mention that Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick wears his wedding ring during games, unlike virtually all other quarterbacks. After the romantic aspect of this had been mentioned several times, Fitzpatrick admitted that while he loves his wife the fact that he’s physically unable to take the ring off his finger had been the real reason.

The only time I take my band off is when I go for a bike ride. Once it almost slipped off my finger (even in gloves) and another time it got scratched when I took a low speed tumble. After those incidents, I always leave it on the bathroom counter.

I take it off to make a meatloaf and often to do something like dishes.

Oh, and for bowling.

I take them off when I garden or go for a walk (my hands swell when I walk) or paint or something, so they’re off as often as they’re on.

I wear it whenever I’m outside. Even if it’s just to check the mail, the moment I step over the threshold it goes on.

The moment I step back in, I put it on the hook where I have my keys. I’m a fidgeter. I’m always playing with things, especially my ring once I figured out I could take it off with my left hand. So in order to keep me from losing it, I put it away.

I like wearing it, though.

I’m not in a relationship now, but my first marriage I never wore my ring. During my second I wore it almost all the time. There were only a few times that I took it off. I miss the ring more then the ex and I’ve thought about getting it fitted for the other hand.

I never took off my wedding ring during my first marriage. For my upcoming marriage, I imagine it will be much the same, although the fit has been a little funny, so we’ll see.

I chose “always” since it’s certainly been the case over the past handful of years, though “almost always” might also occasionally apply (like when I took a machining course, or when I worked with certain chemicals, etc). I’ll take my rings off for safety reasons, but otherwise I always have them on.

I take it off to shower and do major housework.

I have mine on pretty much all the time during waking hours. It comes off before bed, during showers, or when playing baseball so I don’t bend it catching balls, but that’s about it.

This, we had to borrow wedding rings 20 years ago for the ceremony, gave them back and that was that. Neither mrAru nor I are comfortable with rings because of previous professions so it just doesn’t matter.

It comes off only very rarely. I’ll take it off, briefly, if I’m doing something goopy with my hands (like putting on hand lotion, or putting hair gel in my hair), as it has little grooves in it that are hard to clean out.

Over the past few years, I’ll take it off if I’m going to be outside for an extended period of time in cool weather (like at a football game)…I’m lighter now than I was when I got married, and the ring fits particularly loosely when my hands are cold. I don’t want it to slip off in that sort of situation.

I take my rings off when I get home in the evening because I don’t like wearing them when I cook. Also I take them off to sleep. I think I leave them off if I’m just bumming around the house all day. But in general I wear them.

I said “almost always” because I do take mine off at night. I’ve gone out of the house without it but that’s rare.

Oh, and when I’m doing something messy in the kitchen. The windows over the sink have cranks to open them, the crank is at such an angle that it serves nicely as a ring holder. My rings spent all of Thanksgiving overseeing the dishwashing :).

I almost always have it on. I take it off to work in the yard, throw pots and sometimes while cooking.
