Sorry for the delay, I had to sleep in this morning because a migraine delayed my getting-to-bed.
So, the champ for me this week was Identity Crisis #2, being discussed here thanks to Fenris.
Full List of the rest forthcoming later.

You had a migraine too? A combination of that and not having cash to buy comics with have stopped me from reading this week’s stack. It’s still in my subscription box at the store. This was a big week for me. I think I’m getting over half my monthly books this week!
Okay, the list.
Flash 210 and 211 - I like Geoff Johns. He’s a good writer. A team of reformed Rogues battling the still-criminal sorts? Veddy interesting.
JLA #98, 99 - Byrne shilling for Doom Patrol. Yay.
JLA #100 - Shilling for Justice League Elite. Yay.
JLA #101 - Chuck Austen. Aww, man. Well, it was an okay story…
Knights of the Dinner Table - Ahhh, forget it. You know what? Let’s leave it at “I buy every single stinkin title under the KODT imprint, I’m not ashamed of it, and they’re all very good.”
DC Comics Presents : Mystery in Space #1 - Julie Schwartz tribute. First story - mildly amusing, plus it has Ralph and Sue Dibny. Bonus. Second one, aside from some very strange meta-rambling going on, was a pretty interesting story.
Nightwing #95 - Hmmm. I like it, but the ending’s got me confused. Dialogue’s pretty darn good.
Legion #35 - When did speech balloons return to comic book covers? I thought they were gone. Ahem. Anyway … I like the premise. I like the JLA analogues.
She-Hulk #5 - Okay, has the Big House been mentioned anywhere before? Because it rocks. Brilliant idea. “Who’s the cutest little Wrecking Crew? You are!”
Action #817 - Plausible plot. Amusing characters and dialogue. Good last page.
Green Arrow #40 - Treading water until a plot comes along.
Teen Titans #13 - I was wondering when TT would deal with the new Robin. Did I mention Geoff Johns is a good writer? Oh, yeah. I probably will again when I get to JSA.
JSA #61-63 - Geoff Johns is a snappy dresser. Er, a good writer. Batman’s comments at the end of #62 somewhat puzzle me… the fact that Hal’s willpower was sufficient to usurp the purpose of the Spectre’s mission is both impressive and appropriate. The fact these events are paralleled by a conversation between Jay and Alan at the end is pure icing. “Willpower isn’t everything.” #63 - takes us into the Dream world… but apparently they’re studiously avoiding cameos by Morpheus. Pity. Though… hey! Cave Carson! Cool.
Superman/Batman #11 - S’good. S’very good.
Identity Crisis #2 - has it’s own thread already.
Books of Magick : Life During Wartime #1 - Where’d that K come from? Not happy with the art, and the narrative’s muddle,d but I’ll see where it goes.
Bite Club #4 - continues to entertain.
Fables #27 - Go, go Totenkinder! Glad we’ve got things resolved with the war.
My haul for this week:
Identity Crisis # 2: Yes, it’s being discussed elsewhere, but that won’t stop me from saying: cool. I like the new wrinkle added to the mystery. And the very moving story about how the Leaguers dealt with Doctor Light. You could practically see exactly how each of their thoughts went.
H-E-R-O # 18: It was pretty much a given that Jerry would die, especially given the fact that the Previews have been putting Robby at the center of the next storyline. A shame, though, I was hoping for a better ending for him. I’m also not crazy about this book changing from the shifting cast to Robby Reed as the central star. I’ll stay on a bit longer, but if I don’t see some more of that human-interest-story style that attracted me to the book in the first place, I’m gone.
Legion # 34 and 35. # 34 is pretty good, though the ending totally confuses me…why did that kid Vox let the Legion go without any sort of fight if he now hates them? # 35 is not inherently a bad story, but I’m not crazy about these Justice League analogues. (Everyone with a color by their name, but dropping the color descriptor? Will “Tornado” pop up next?)
JSA # 63. This book is incredible. Geoff Johns knows the DC Universe and loves to use everyone in it…and appropriately, as well. My favorite read this week.
She-Hulk: Possibly the best Marvel book out there right now. As far as I know, this is the first mention of The Big House, and it makes good sense. About time they use some good old fashioned comic book science. Gotta say, I do feel sorry for Scorpion though. The art was good too. It’s not the regular artist who makes She-Hulk cute as a bug, but it was consistantly good throughout the book, something we don’t get with the regular guy
The Pulse: Getting good. Even Bagley’s art, which is ill-suited for this type of story, looked better. Was there a new inker? I understand that The Pulse is going to tie in to Marvel Knights Spider-Man, with the S-M/Goblin fight figuring in. Which brings me too…
Marvel Knights: Spider-Man: The art is pretty but I’m not impressed with Millar’s Spidey. He’s making a story that is way too dark for S-M. I’m going to stick it out till the end, which is all Marvel is worried about, since I normally like Millar, but thus far I can’t recommend it.
Ultimate X-Men: I’m middle of the road with this one. Vaughn is another good writer and I want to like this, but so far…meh.
ToyFare: WHERE DID THE BIG SHOTS GO???
Picked up that PS 238 TPB.
I love it!! Freshest, most funny thing in years!
Added the book to my box List at Rick’s Comics here in Nashvegas.
PS 238 has IT’S OWN WEBSITE.
“Rick’s Comics”? Is this the same Rick who used to run Collector’s World on Nolensville Rd?
I liked this month’s Fables. I always enjoy Fables! But it exemplifies a general complaint I have with the series, which is that Willingham keeps setting up storylines that look like they’ll be long-running, long-simmering arcs…
…and then he resolves them completely within two or three issues. That’s how it was with the reporter storyline, the farm revolt storyline and now with the war storyline
With such a huge cast I don’t see why that’s necessary. I’d like to see some of this stuff more drawn-out.
