I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who bought Ultra (I hate it when there’s absolutely nothing else in the store I’d consider buying. I always end up buying something like this). Ugh. Chick superheroes (or, superheroines) that act all Sex and the Cityish, do goofy girl things yet (presumably) are still able to kick ass when it’s needed. PR agencies, endorsements and magazine interviews discussing demographics. Ugh. I want my money back.
Art was nice, lettering sucked ass, writing was OK for such a boring concept.
I’m trying to figure out when in JSA continuity it occurs - which is always a trick with these stories. It’s got Hippolyta. It’s got Mr. Terrific. The war’s still on. It’s got Wildcat. I’m guessing 1944 - but I’m fuzzy on Mr. Terrific and Wildcat’s join-dates.
Ugh, I’m so glad I read the imagecomics.com preview of Ultra, so I knew not to buy it. I thought the cover was interesting, the artwork was decent, and then I read the story and thought exactly the same thing as CandidGamera.
I have Ex Machina #3, Supreme Power #12, Exiles #51 and a few other I can’t remember off the top of my head.
I thought Cable & Deadpool was supposed to be a limited series as well. Is it going to be ongoing? Along with Rob “I’m a superstar for some reason or another” Liefeld’s X-Force?
The way the “Next:” thing looked at the end of the issue, it seemed that way.
I mean, I like Cable and all - as far as the 90’s “Big Cyborg with Guns” characters go, he’s one of the better ones, with an interesting backstory… but he’s not worth two monthly titles.
