This has given me a tremendous idea. I know who the person behind the whole civil war thing is. It’s zombie Paul McCartney. It’s all a plan to reclaim his life from the fake Paul.

Here’s my prediction: During the Chris Claremont run of FF, Reed and Doom were momentarily merged into the same being. Afterwards, Reed dressed in the armor and Doom acted like a hero on Counter-Earth. Later, Reed got sloppier and Doom got more ruthless. I’m guessing that each of these men retains a small piece of the other’s soul/RNA/whatever, and this accounts for Reed’s CW actions.
Here’s my prediction : There won’t be any explanation at all - at least, not one that fits Reed’s character. All complaints will be dismissed with a comment about how well the books are selling, and how different people can see a character differently.
