I was looking on the web for WW/Palm tools but only found one that worked with the 1998 version of the WW 1-2-3 Success Program.
Do you have a tool that works, or do you just jot it down in the Memo Pad?

I also have been doing WW only online. I’ve lost 12 pounds in 4 months. I agree with what most of the others have said, its about changing your habits and lifestyle for the better, its not someone telling you that you can only eat prescribed food like on Jenny Craig or something like that. I think WW is the best weight loss program around.
I find the online journal very effective. What you have to do is keep track EVERYTHING that passes your lips! I think that if you can stay with recording everything daily and not going over your points allotment, you should be fine. Also, the website has lots of advice articles, recipies, and message boards too.
zev, I found a guy a few years back who was posting free software for the Palm that mimicked the PointsFinder. Of course, at the time I didn’t have a Palm, so I never downloaded it.
I guess WW Corporate got wind of it and asked him to cease and desist, because the Points system is proprietary. As far as I know, there is no official Palm software. Probably because WW sells a PointsManager that does essentially the same thing (it looks [and is] like a handheld calculator).
I’m guessing anyone that has something like that is using a version that isn’t officially sanctioned.
WW Journal is the one I use, and may be the one you found. It hasn’t been updated in forever, but it works well enough for my purposes. It does have a built-in points calculator, so I’m surprised it hasn’t been shut down, since WW does crack down on that.
Thanks, SmackFu. That’s the one I saw.
scout1222, I ran across his website too. Sure enough, he stated that WW shut him down.
I’d rather go with a Palm solution than carry an additional piece of hardware around with me all day.

Another WW convert checking in.
So far I’ve been on the program for 9 weeks (just beginning my 10th) and I’ve lost 20.6 pounds. I have a lot more to go, and I feel really great about my prospects of doing just that.
The thing that appeals to me about it is that I am very “anti-diet.” To me, “dieting” was all tied up with a lot of negative things, one of which was loss of control. If somebody tells me I can’t have something, you can bet I’m going to have it before the day’s over, just to prove that I can. The WW Winning Points program forbids nothing. Instead, they assign point values to everything and let you make the choice. Before I joined I used to eat McDonald’s extra value meals, load up on candy and french fries and all sorts of unhealthy things, and generally eat like an idiot. On WW I can still have those things if I want them, but I have to account for the points. One Value Meal covers most of my point total for a whole day. Thus, I’ve learned that I have to make choices–if I want a Quarter Pounder, I have to eat healthy low-point stuff for my other meals. Oddly enough, I haven’t eaten too many Quarter Pounders since then–just knowing I can is enough to get me by. I’m even able to continue my weekly “pizza date” with the spousal unit by banking my points for it each week (you can save up to 5 food points per day in a “bank” which you can then withdraw up to 10 per day. Points evaporate at the end of each week and you start again.)
I find the meetings semi-helpful. The leader is a bit touchy-feely and spends far too much time talking about kids and family for my tastes, but the weigh-ins are very motivating and, surprisingly, so are the silly little achievement awards like bookmarks and stars.
Bottom line is, I knew I had to do something and I wanted to do something smart. WW is working for me.
BTW, there’s an excellent website called Dotti’s Weight Loss Zone (dwlz.com) that has a lot of useful WW-related stuff including success stories, food points for various restaurants, a message board, and more. I find it more useful than my meeting (except for the weigh-in).
I tried WW and hated it. That said I’m a very fussy eater and really dislike being told what I can and can’t eat. Being pushed to buy WW products was what eventually alienated me. Not only are you telling what I can eat you are now telling me what brands I can buy - Goodbye.
However I’ve got friends currently going to WW and they love it and are loosing weight, getting fit - the works.
I’m 14.6 pounds down at 5 1/2 weeks.
I love it. I really cannot say enough about how healthy I feel in this “lifestyle” (it’s not supposed to be a diet) .
There are no funky food combos, or protein binges, or anything wacky.
Just good common horse sense and nutrition. Most of all, you help your body readjust to normal, small portions again, instead of thinking the “supersize” is regular size.
leechbabe, were you on WW a long time ago? Nowadays they don’t tell you what you can and can’t eat, and they don’t push you to buy WW food. I’ve been going for 9 weeks now and not once have I ever been pressured to buy WW food. They don’t even push the stuff they sell at the locations (the 2-point bars and smoothies).
From what I understand it’s changed radically in the last 10 years or so.
winterhawk11 it was two years ago that I started going to WW. I understand from my g/f things have changed a little but when she talks about what she’s doing it doesn’t seem to have changed that much. Perhaps things in Australia are a little different from the states.
Comparing WW to other diet companies it is the better option. For a couple of months I got meals delivered from a place called Lite N Easy which was great to start with but the meals ended up being very similar and their dinners Blech.
leechbabe - I just checked out your link. Those pictures look great! Unfortunately I know that when you get the food delivered and cooked, it probably doesn’t look nearly as appetizing.
Not that WW is immune to that. Have you ever seen their cookbooks? Cripes, they’ve got a great food stylist and photographer!
