There is a color coding system for players based on their position on the money list. But the breakdown struck me as weird. I’m thinking that this must have some importance, perhaps in terms of which players qualify for the tour next year? Can somebody explain?
Positions
1 - 30: Yellow
31 - 125: Blue
136 - 150: Green
151 - 175: Brown
176+: Red
The Top 30 on the money list get to play in the season-end TOUR Championship. The Top 125 will have full exempt status next year. 126-150 get to bypass the first two rounds of Q School.
Thanks. Does “full exempt” status mean that they can participate in any tournament of their choice, including the majors?
AFAIK, it means they don’t have to play any qualifying rounds for open events and don’t have to go to Q school to get their PGA card. Some events, like the Masters are invitation-only, so being exempt or non-exempt has no bearing on those tournaments.
