Weird, poorly-animated Christmas special??

I was just thinking about this recently…

At least twice in my childhood – once on TV, and once in school from a film projector – I saw an odd, short Christmas cartoon…very roughly animated…I’m guessing it’s from the mid-'60s or later…

It was a little kid in his bedroom and sitting down next to his dog and, IIRC, telling the dog the story of the nativity. I don’t remember much from it except:

  • at one point, the kid and the dog move to the bed…but the animation was so crude that the child and the dog both LEVITATED to the bed in their sitting positions!

  • it ended with “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” from A Charlie Brown Christmas of all things (which is why I say it’s from the mid-'60s or later)…or at least SOUNDED like that version!

Anybody have any idea what I’m talking about?? I’m morbidly curious as to the name of it so I can maybe track it down…

Don’t know the answer, but The First Christmas features a boy and a dog on the cover art and fits your time frame. Wikipedia also has a List of Christmas Films you can sort by year or title.

Thanks, Just, but that’s not it…this was an actual drawn cartoon, not stop-motion…I’ll check out that list…

“Christmas Is…” with Benji & Waldo, a boy & his dog, brought to us by Lutheran TV maybe?

Nope, that’s not it either. The one I’m thinking of is animated even WORSE. There’s no play involved. The kid was younger, and it was a different type of dog…but thanks!
