Weird question - Asus Transformer table supplied with incorrect charger?

Hi folks,

A bit of a strange one. For reasons I can’t really go into, I’ve been asked to find out if a specific model of tablet has had a supply issue where incompatible chargers been put in the box by mistake. The model in question is the Asus Transformer Pad TF103C.

The background to this rather odd query is that someone I know deals with distributing IT equipment to organisations, and someone somewhere is claiming that their new tablet has the wrong charger in the box. Furthermore, they’re claiming that they Googled this issue and found lots of cases, and that it’s a known thing. I tried Googling, and couldn’t find any evidence that there’s a widespread issue - I also checked Amazon’s customer reviews for the tablet.

So if anyone happens to have bought one of these things and had the wrong charger in the box, or has heard about an issue like this, I’d appreciate it if you let me know.

Thanks,

TCS

Based on net searching the client is lying or wildly exaggerating about it being a pervasive problem but why all this effort to ferret this out? Have the client return the item, check the adapter and go from there. Why recruit you and others in this silly, time wasting detective hunt that should have been handled in one email to the user?

From what I can tell, the correct connector for this tablet is micro USB, like 99% of non-Apple devices, and generally speaking, the right kind of plug for 95% of these is “any micro USB plug.”

I do see ssomething like this sold, and it may be something that appears to be a regular USB but has some additional components inside, but I’m not trusting the say-so of random Amazon reviews. At any rate, you probably can’t hurt the device by using the wrong one.
