I’ve several small welding jobs to do around here.
It has been many years since I had welding class but I can still weld.
I need to know about light filter ratings. The only ones I can find are rated 10. I’m having a hard time seeing my weld and I believe I need a darker filter.
What number do I ask for?
I use a standard flip up lens helmet.
I’m surprised that you can’t see the arc well with a #10 glass. I do find with a #10 with tig or stick but I recently switched to an auto dark lens. Try a darker lens, ,12 or 14 I think but higher number = darker, if you must but I think it may be just a matter of concentrating on watching the arc. That sounds like an empty statement but it takes a little practice go go from just seeing that there is an arc to seeing the arc stream, the filler and the puddle.

Yeah thats what I’m looking for.
Maybe its these just old eyes but I can focus just fine on keyboard letters so I would think I should be able to see weld puddles.
I only mentioned that I can weld to illustrate that I know what I am looking at,for, I just can’t see it.
I didn’t remember weather darker was a higher or lower number.
