I’ve never, ever, listened to Rush Limbaugh; not one single time in my life. I’m suspicious of anyone who admits to listening to his vomiting, especially those who defend him.
I’m mostly on board with you, LouisB, but I’ve got a question. If you’ve never listened to him, on what basis do you characterize his output as “vomiting”?
Public service pittings, as opposed to recreational outrage, where Doper scouts go and report back. Save a lot of grief, especially for persons like myself, with delicate sensibilities.
Why do you keep defending him? You are aware of how thoroughly he’s been proven a liar over and over again, right?
To be fair, Scylla wasn’t exactly defending Rush, just clarifying what his original argument was.
The argument itself is still rubbish. And Rush is contemptible for using it to try to tar Obama.

I thought that, too, but did anyone from Rush ever even use drugs? They always seemed so clean and precise.

Actually, I think they’re completely clean (as far as we know), but it still makes a good joke.
How long before Hannity starts calling it the Obama Recession? What Rush does the others soon follow. The movement is never wrong with these guys, they are just like communists.
I think RL’s comments were tongue-in-cheek. The left seems to delight in blaming George Bush for everything that is wrong. I think RL was just giving them a taste of their own medicine.
I base it on my association with a few people who do listen to him and quote what he says to me. But mainly I base it on the honest reporting on this, the SDMB, by posters whom I respect.

He says that if you think Limbaugh would not spew hate and bile and bigotry just to make a buck, you’re naive. He’s not saying he’d do the same thing.
I mean, fuck, I’d be totally fucking INCREDIBLE in sales if you go by my personality profile and interviews I’ve done, but I know I would actually SUCK at sales because I have a conscience and I’m not willing to try to make people buy shit they don’t need. Thousands upon thousands of people still make money in sales, right?

If you actually listen to the broadcast (I assume Rush’s website has podcasts or whatever) you’ll hear different. He was quite serious.
Nah, I’ll just make fun of their lead vocalist for sounding like an overcaffeinated mouse.
He was also serious when he told his audience that Clinton’s 1993 tax hike was going to put our economy in the toilet.
