I wasn’t able to hook up with Falcon before I left on vacation so we didn’t meet in Vegas. 
However, I kept my promise and sent postcards to those who requested them. Did they arrive?

Gosh!!! I missed another post card… And my collection will not be the same. Oh well, When are you going on another trip? Remember, GBS collects post cards. 
I bought a few extras. I still have one or two from Grand Canyon and Bryce if you would like me to send them to you (Bryce is VERY cool), all my Vegas, Zions, Lake Powell, and Route 66 cards were send though.

Diane, thank you very much for the flood of postcards. The door of the refrigerator is groaning under the weight of the magnets required to hold them all up there. It appears you spent the lion’s share of your vacation addressing post cards.

Hopefully, the pictures were impressive enough to convince you all to come out and allow me to be host to a SDMB vacation/hiking/sightseeing/mountain biking/partying thing. I know Zions National Park, Bruce Canyon, Grand Canyon south rim, and Vegas like the back of my hand.
It is getting too hot now, but it may be something think about in the fall. Strainger also mentioned an outdoor get together in Colorado that sounds like a lot of fun.
GBS - I sent you a postcard of the Grand Canyon and will send you one of Bryce Canyon as soon as I figure out where I put them when I unpacked. As I said in my e-mail, the Grand Canyon is impressive but pales in comparison with Bryce, at least in MHO.

I’ll post a separate thread about this whenever I get more information, such as the exact date, etc. The information so far is this: My hiking club is doing a 14er hike in Colorado in August (yeah, it rains in the afternoon, but at least the snow is melted off the mountain). Any outdoorsy-type Dopers who also would like to attend are more than welcome to. In fact, at this time I would welcome any suggestions as far as where to go (preferably not to far from the 4-corners area); whether we should “car camp” and do a day hike, or backpack (we may get more takers for the car camp option). I’ll make the plans from there and keep everyone informed. I’ll probably provide the exact details over private email, and just use the message board to encourage people to sign up.
Getting back to the OP, I got postcards from Diane and Falcon and was very appreciative. It was a nice change from the bills, junk mail, homeowners’ assn. gripes, paternity suits, conscription notices (I thought they weren’t doing that anymore, am I young enough?), death threats, etc. Thanks to both of you!
